Multi Vector Test

Mission:
A New Dawn
Location: Holodeck 1
Walking up to the entrance to holodeck 1, Gunner activated the controls.
“Computer, activate Alsea bridge training program”.
After a moment the computer beeped in the affirmative and the holodeck door opened. Gunner entered and was standing directly on the bridge, complete with a generic crew at all their stations. The sounds of the bridge filled the room as the door behind Gunner closed and the holodeck appeared over its place. Gunner smiled as he listed for a moment to the ambient sounds. There was nothing that sounded quite like the bridge of a starship.
“Computer remove crew”.
As Gunner spoke the crew vanished and he walked to the tactical station. Gunner used the controls to ready tactical for complete multi vector mode.
“Computer transfer all primary bridge controls to tactical and link all other controls to voice command”.
“Affirmative” the voice of the computer echoed back.
“Computer, log all activity and sensor data related to the following exercises.”
“Please state exercise length” the computer asked inquisitively.
“Evolution will begin and end with my voice commands”.
Gunner readied the controls and engaged the multi vector function of the ship. Lights blinked, a slow alarm hummed, and the noise of the separation echoed through the simulated bridge.
Nice attention to detail. Gunner thought to himself.
Computer program three enemy vessels.
“Please state the nature of the enemy vessels” the computer inquired.
Thinking for a moment, Gunner remembered his recent chuckle in engineering.
“Computer, program three Romulan warbirds. Random ages, and average age forty years.”.
Thinking back to his academy days, Gunner remembers a story he heard about the original vessel USS Prometheus.
Why not. Gunner laughs to himself.
“Computer replicate a mark one and mark two EMH program. Search historical records for all data pertaining to Starfleet resident Doctor Joe and program the mark one with a similar personality profile. Keep mark two at initial operating personality.”
“The following request is not possible given memory capabilities”.
Oh well. Gunner thought to himself. Wait a minute…
Gunner snapped his fingers and smiled slightly to himself.
“Computer program the previous request, but remove all medical knowledge, computer links and keep only personality profiles. Compile figures as if characters in a simulation.”.
In a moment two figures appear next to gunner. The first being the bald figure of the EMH mark I, which had become famous among Starfleet cadets over the years, and the other was the younger blonde mark II. In unison, both spoke that all too familiar message.
“Please state the nature of the medical emergency”.
“Welcome heroes. We are about to fight some Romulans”.
The two doctors looked at each other in shock and the mark one spoke up.
“Romulans! I’m a doctor not a tactical officer.”.
“Sit tight old man” Gunner waved off the flabbergasted doctors.
The sensors showed the main ship component was taking damage, but Gunner felt nothing.
“Computer freeze program”.
The program stopped as too did the two heroes Gunner had summoned.
“Computer activate feedback while maintaining full safety controls and resume program”.
The program roared back to life and the ship shook around Gunner.
“That’s more like it” Gunner yelled out to himself.
“More like it?” The mark II responded
“You clearly hit your head” the mark I added.
Activating the attack vector, Gunner looked at the doctors.
“Any suggestions for an attack pattern?” Gunner asked.
“Alpha?” the mark I muttered in a tone more of surprise than authority.
“Alpha it is”.
Gunner programmed the ship into attack pattern alpha with the primary target being the closest warbird. On the viewscreen Gunner could see the warbird being blasted with phaser fire from three sides. The rotating volley of phaser blasts and spread torpedoes was a staple of attack pattern alpha. It was no attack patter beta 3 to Gunner, but he respected the simplicity.
“Victory!” shouted Gunner.
“There are still two more ships out there” noted the mark I as he gestured to the screen.
“Perhaps more… they could be cloaked” said the mark II in a scared tone.
“Cloaked, in battle?” The mark I asked almost annoyed.
“If it was possible, I would say you had hit your head”.
As the bickering continued behind him Gunner watched the secondary necel section broke off while suffering minor damage. The other sections continued their attack disabling the second warbird and the third retreated from battle.
“Computer freeze first simulation”.
Gunner looked at his two still cohorts and laughed to himself. He always enjoyed the story of two holograms taking over the Prometheus and saving the day. There was no flesh and blood, but they were honorable warriors all the same.
“Computer remove the doctors”.
The two figures faded and disappeared from the bridge.
Gunner looked over the sensor logs from the simulation trying to figure why the damage taken by the multi vector components was higher than he anticipated.
Interesting. Gunner thought to himself.
Reading over the logs Gunner noted a noticeable delay in certain actions. The ships reacted with a delay because of the communication of the attack pattern. While there was a delay in entering the attack pattern, given that Gunner asked for suggestions from his guests, he theorized that the actions would go faster if all sections anticipated the pending attack pattern order.
“Computer. Reset simulation and increase difficulty by ten percent.”.
With a warrior’s smile Gunner continued.
“And program each multi vector component to initiate attack pattern beta three”.

Good post, well done.
