Mission:
The Edge of Never
Location: USS Lotus
Timeline: Stardate 8873.1
Personal Log, USS Lotus.
Stardate 8873.1
Having returned to starbase Lotus last week, I have gotten Shelly settled into the routine here aboard a Federation base. Starfleet Intelligence has basically quaranteened her to her quarters on deck nineteen, although she can partake of most guest facilities like the public mess on twenty-two and the holodecks on twenty and twenty-one.
Once she is done with that I will endeavour to get her aclimated to life here aboard the base. Perhaps she'll take some courses. Mnd you she could teach our marines a thing or two. I've sparred with her a few times on the holodeck, and she threw me every match. I suppose time will tell as to what she will do now that she is relatively safe from the syndicate.
As for me? The Lotus is refitted and I am running level one diagnostic's on the transwarp systems. The pair of uses last mission put relativistic strains on the ship. That report is flagged to send to myself and Captain Felez once completed. I don't expect to have to replace the assembly, but we have to check.
Computer! Log and close.
David stretched slightly and looked around his office on deck eleven. Through the open door he could hear the faint pulse of the main core throb at rest. Occasionally, a technitian would walk past the doorway, bent on one task or another. As he thought about the current activities of work aboard a ship in dock at a base, the routine refit and re-supply; systems checks and other routine tasks, the small screen display in front of him chimed in tandem with his comm badge.
'Commander Rogers, report to Rear Admiral Kotari's office immediately.'
David recognised the voice of Fleet Captain Samji. the matter-of-fact summons seemed somewhat tense.
'hmmm,' David thought to himself. 'Something's up.'
David rose from his chair, checked his uniform for wrinkles and tapped his badge to reply.
"On my way sir."
Leaving his office he walked out of main engineering and down the hall to the turbolift. He would need to transport over to the base. Entering the lift he gave the perfunctory order.
"Deck three."
As the lift hummed to life and the faint movement became felt, David took his PADD from its holster and checked the main starbase deck layout. He had never been to the Admirals offices before. As the lift doors opened at his destination David marched the few steps to the transporter room while confirming his destination on the PADD. Entering the room, David requested the destination from the transporter officer on duty and proceeded to the pad. Once stationary, he nodded to the young ensign and he was whisked over to star base Lotus.
Appearing on the number four transporter pad on deck ten, David took the neccessary steps to the turbolift and down another deck to eleven. Turning left at the exit he checked the wall map nearby to find Admiral Kotari's office was further along. As he proceeded there he holstered his PADD and then turned into the foyer. The young Lieutenant at the desk looked at him expectantly. No one got past him without a reason. David passed on his summons command to the admirals adjutant.
"Commander David Rogers reporting as orderd."
The adjutant checked his display and with a nod passed Rogers on into the office. Nodding respectively in response David stepped past the desk and up to the doors, which swished apart to admit him to the large office. In there, he was greeted by Captain Syntron of the Phoenix and his most noticeable X'Ell chief science officer, already seated on one side of the long, classic banana-shaped conference table in the center of the large room.
