Meeting Preparation

Mission:
From the Ashes
Location: Phaser Range, USS Phoenix, docked at Starbase 10
“I think that’s a good place to stop for today,” Josh said as he finished his round at the phaser range. “End program.”
The lights came up in the room as the officers holstered their weapons and relaxed.
“Chief, I believe your shift is over, so have a relaxing evening. We can secure your weapon on our way to my office. Lieutenant, we have a report to write; if you’ll follow me,” he said, motioning to the door.
“I’ll do my best sir,” Chief Parks said as he handed over his phaser. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Josh took the Chief’s phaser and walked towards the turbolift with Nidiri at his side.
“Sir, I can get this report ready without you,” Nidiri said, with a slight giggle. “I think you need some more practice time at the phaser range.”
“You beat me by one hit; I really hope I’m not going to hear about this for the rest of my life,” Josh responded as they entered the turbolift. “Deck seven.”
“For the rest of your life, no. For the rest of the day, yes,” Nidiri said with a smirk.
“Oh, that’s all?” he replied as they stepped off the turbolift. “I can deal with a day, but I’ll remember this next time I beat you.”
“I would be disappointed if you didn’t,” Nidiri said as she followed Josh into his office and took a seat. “You really need to get some more decorations in here. It’s very boring.”
“After we get the department ready for launch, I’ll let you decorate to your heart’s content. For now, let’s get this report ready for the meeting.”
“The armory is ready to go, as are the internal sensors,” Nidiri reported. “How are the tactical systems?”
“We’ve identified a couple changes that need to be made, but all in all the systems look good,” Josh replied as he took notes for his report. “I’ve got to run a few more simulations before we physically make the changes. How are we doing on personnel?”
“We’re still waiting on a few security officers, we’re about one security team short, and another investigations officer,” Nidiri responded. “In tactical, there are a couple recently graduated cadets still making their way from Earth. Other than that we’re all set.”
“Good. Once we have everyone on board, we’ll need to meet with all security personnel and fill them in on procedures,” he said. “I plan to use similar procedures to those we had on the Lotus.”
A little while later, after they had gone through every facet of the department Josh paused and set down his PADD. “I think that should do it for now. Why don’t we head to the Ember Lounge before we call it a night. Maybe we can meet some more of our new crew."
"That sounds like a good plan," Nidiri responded as she stood. The two officers made their way to the lounge and enjoyed a few drinks.

Nice post... it seems like the Ember Lounge is going to be rather popular on the ship.
