O'Conner's Arrival

Mission:
Azimuth Horizon: Crusade - Chapter 3: Preparations
Timeline: Before the Spectre meeting.
"Crewman!" O'Conner commanded as he stepped in to main engineering.
The young officer quickly turned and replied "Sir?"
"Where is everyone?" The commander replied as he glanced around the nearly empty room.
"Commander Rodgers has alpha and beta shift resting for the trip."
"Ah." He then tossed the crewman his bags. "See those are put in to chief engineer's office."
"Aye sir."
O'Conner then turned and made his way to the wrap core, leaning against the rail he gazed at and smiled . "It's good to see the old girl."
Moments later his tapped his comm. "Commander O'Conner to Lieutenant Noor. I have been assigned as the Spectre's chief engineer. I need a report on the engineering prep work."
After a short pause the androian replied. "We have acquired additional 200 torpedoes, 100 photons and 100 quantum."
"Very good, use your contact on the station and see if you can't trade our shuttles for some fighters."
"Yes sir."
Tapping his comm again he called another officer. "Commander O'Conner to Ensign Price. I need you wrangle me the parts 3 additional backup reactors."
"Uhh, aye sir."
O'Conner then looked around the room once more and muttered under his breath. "Hope we have enough time."

A suggestion here. Since O'Conner is, wihout warning, dislodging the current chief engineer (who is in fact a PC but for this story played as an NPC), there is a lot of RP potential here in terms of character relationships. Obviously the junior officer (Shar Noor) will comply to the brutal change in status, being Andorian and thus very disciplined... but being Andorian, he should also feel very emotionally disturbed, clearly angered by this, either towards O'Conner himself, his captain or even both. Either his competence is challenged, usurped or simply declared inadequate by this (to him) totally unfair situation. and its a challenge to reason an angered Andorian.
There is also the interesting situation of O'Conner himself, coming from under the authority of an Andorian he now has lost all respect for to being now over another Andorian he obviously does not respect yet... this one who should be understandably quite resentful of his arrival, however rank-justified it might be. Some of the engineering crew now familiar with Shar Noor after their time travel adventure might also look askance at this.
Think of ST:TMP when Kirk bumped Decker out of the command seat or the same situation in the war movie Run Silent Run Deep... LOTS of character developement potential here!
Just an idea... have fun!
