Mission:
Azimuth Horizon: Crusade - Chapter 3: Preparations
Location: Starbase 10, Deck 7, Main Conference Hall
Timeline: 87170.75
Fleet Captain Samji patiently listened to the officers in turn, and when it seemed like no one else had something to contribute right that moment, he began addressing the concerns and questions.
"Diplomacy has been tough, as you can imagine," he began. "It is clear the Empress is making rash and emotional decisions, and, as I noted, many of her own people are attempting to rebel or escape. Starfleet has essentially assessed her state as insane and have judged further attempts at diplomacy to be futile."
"As to the Remans," Samji said, nodding to Mister Lire with a look of appreciation for the thoughtful question, "I have not been informed of any talks, but I will bring it up with Rear Admiral Kotari ASAP. Despite our differences, they could be powerful allies and are in proximity to greatly affect the outcome."
"The Azimuth Horizon will be explained in more detail in a little bit after we review the list of hostiles. To make a long story short, however, it is a four-dimensional wormhole to another 'universe', for lack of a better term. While the epicenter is fully formed in our universe, the tendrils spread through subspace at highest possible warp speed, not including transwarp. However, the entirety of the anomaly will not spread that fast. In reality the spread of it is quite slow, which is why we're still here. It gets stuck in subspace, but in bursts it will occasionally appear in normal space along well-established warp routes, causing plasma storms, destruction, and loss of vessels and anything else in the proximity."
He then acknowledged the Doctor, saying "Thalaron weapons are a distinct possibility that we need to be prepared for. As you know, there have been medical studies in regards to defending our bodies against the radiation, so please coordinate with all our medical staff to implement those in the field."

Additional Azimuth Horizon data is available in this thread. You can assume that all this will have been logged in Starfleet's database.
I'm putting an assumption in this post that Thalaron weapons have been thoroughly researched in the last 31 years since they were first encountered by the Enterprise. I'm not sure what data there is out there, but I'm sure our CMOs... which, I guess right now is Jolie and NPCs... can come up with something neat.

Also useful to the CMO's would be the Memory Alpha article on Thalaron radiation:
