Personal Log Second Lt. Somers

Soon after she had returned to her quarters on the Horizon and had finished unpacking the rest of her stuff that arrived, finally she got in touch with her father on earth and arranged for a priority shipment of four cases of Bloodwine 2207 vintage. As her father was the diplomat and he had some clout her cases would arrive hopefully before the Horizon left space dock. Her father knew that she was trying to impress someone, he also knew she would have to do it in a tactful and politic way he had told her that he had confidence in her and promised that it would be done. After some chit-chat about stuff, she bid farewell to her father and then her mother and sister and signed off. Now she had to do herself a personal log.

"After the assignment meetings, where a few surprises were handed out I found out about my new CO, it would seem that he sounds like a bit of a stiff, which means he probably has an acute danger sense. I can relate, perhaps that is why I felt ambivalent when speaking to him at the meeting, he is too much like me in temperament, the only difference is, his experience is different to mine."

"I did find out one interesting fact, though, he likes Bloodwine so I will see if I can get to know him better via Bloodwine, of course, it would have to be all above board and the like considering he is the Captain. I spoke to my father and arranged for some Bloodwine to be shipped to me, I would have liked to have arranged some barrels, but considering that space will be limited I have had to settle for crates with bottles in, out of a barrel or out of a keg Bloodwine is Bloodwine to me."

"Back to current events, I have just finished unpacking the rest of my stuff, the cargo hauliers took their sweet damned time in getting my stuff I brought with me on the shuttle up to my quarters, but it finally arrived and it is now unpacked. I am now wondering where next or rather what our next mission is to be, no doubt it will be interesting, I also feel sorry for Captain Redding, after all, most of his command staff were young officers like myself most of who have not had the experience in their new positions. I am good with MCO duties, but I have also been assigned with duties of a Strategic Operations Officer that gives a new meaning to being thrown in at the deep end ha ha ha"

With that, she closed the log and went to get a shower as when she would be called to duty it would be when the mission starts so she would need to be presentable.
