Calm Before the Storm

Jureth sat quietly in the security office of the USS Alsea. He was currently the ranking officer aboard the Prometheus Class warship having not followed his own edict to his officers to get some rest and relaxation. He had taken the time to compose a proper letter to his mother on Deep Space Nine about the recent developments in his Starfleet career but other than that he had not left the ship.

"Computer, begin recording, personal log Oseno, Jureth."

"Recording started..." replied the pleasant female voice

"Personal Log: Stardate 87130.19. We've been docked at Starbase Ten for nearly two full days, and from what I hear there will be fleetwide briefings beginning soon on the Azimuth Horizon phenomeon. It is something that I knew was coming, and hope that I am ready for. Work crews are finishing up the minor repairs the Alsea's hull needed after our engagement with the Klingons which Starfleet Intelligence has since classified which was not unexpected.
I can only speculate what the Alsea and Lotus Fleet will face in the coming days, but I have a feeling it will be a true test of all of our abilities. My mother should be pleased with the message I sent her, and judging from her last one it seems she is as happy with her positon on DS Nine as I am with mine on the Alsea. I look forward to a future with this crew and this ship no matter what it may hold."
