The former flagship of Lotus fleet is recommissionned and refited to serve Starfleet's security needs for a fast, well equiped and available vessel to resolve the mystrious disappearance and return of the USS Diamond Star. Sister ship of the new flagship USS Horizon, the Lotus class technical testbed flew away without a crew from the shipyards of Utopia Plenitia and then was found several days later drifting in space. Although the ship and shipyard security logs were thoroughly examined, probed, checkes and tested numerous times, no one knows still who, how and especially why the vessel was taken away... and then came back all by itself.

The Lotus, one of the very few ships capable of following the trail of the transwarp prototype and with a minimal crew, is dispatched with an elite cadre of officers to bring the investigation beyond the ship and shipyards themselves.

And it will go even beyond what anyone might expect.
