Physical Description |
Short for a trill, Stephanie stands at about 1.6 meters. The markings of her species are present along both sides of her body from head to heel. Her purple hair is short and styled into a faux-hawk that just barely meets Starfleet regulations. Her violet eyes are always alert and looking for the next problem to solve. She’s usually a bit bouncy since she’s always bursting with energy. |

Personality & Traits
General Overview |
Stephanie’s parents were on a Trill transport that was saved by a Starfleet vessel less than a year before she was born. Her parents named her after one of the crewmen that had helped them. She spent her adolescence inspired by her mother’s tale of the brave Starfleet crew coming to her rescue. She dreamt as a child of joining Starfleet and serving aboard one of their magnificent starships.
She excelled at any mental endeavor she pursued. She was incredibly gifted with mathematics and had an innate sense of the way things fit together through science. She graduated from a graduate program in mathematics on her own home world before, at her father’s urging, she applied to be joined with a symbiot at the same time she applied to Starfleet Academy. Both applications were accepted, and she was unwilling to pass up either opportunity. Her classes at the Academy began only a month after she was joined. Her Symbiot is relatively young and has had only a few hosts before, none were members of Starfleet. It will be a new experience for both of them.
She usually has trouble interacting with people about things other than her studies or work. She’s a bit shy and socially awkward, but she’s hardly meek and will correct others as needed to help them, though her lack of tact can sometimes come across as trying to be superior. |
|
Strengths & Weaknesses | Her greatest strength is her mind. Stephanie’s entrance exam to the academy put her in the top 2% of Intelligent Quotient, placing her among Vulcans in terms of mathematical calculation speed and accuracy.
One factor that has proved throughout her life to be a strength and weakness is her physical limitations. Her small frame is lithe and agile, but lacks significant strength. She was able to easily pass Starfleet physical fitness tests, but the endurance tests were barely acceptable and left her sore for several days. It’s not that she’s weak, she’s just tiny.
Her greatest weakness is her social awkwardness. Though, she would tell you it’s her biggest area of opportunity. She usually manages to offend anyone but the Vulcans around her due to her lack of social graces and tendency to blurt out whatever comes to mind when correcting someone or solving a problem. |

Ambitions |
Her only true ambition is to serve Starfleet with a distinction that honors her namesake, her parents, and her symbiote. She feels that she has a lot to live up to. Her previous hosts all did admirable things with their lives. |

Basic History
Personal History | I'll include in this section information on her previous hosts: Joined in 2260 her first host, Stephen Decatur, although marooned on an alien planet, managed to survive for most of his lifetime before being rescued, which was a feat in itself. Joined in 2313 her second host, Kel Decatur, spent his life dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge, earning honors during his tenure as a science professor and head of department at the Science Academy on Trill. Joined in 2359 her third host, Dezerol Decatur, was a decorated non-commissioned officer. Dezerol served with distinction and valor as an enlisted Starfleet Marine. He was awarded several distinguished medals during the Dominion War, including the Solar Cross Medal of Mercy, the Star Cross, two Wounds Ribbons, and on three separate occasions the Starfleet Medal of Commendation for Valor. He was crippled from wounds received in action in 2401 and was medically discharged with honor.
Stephanie, the fourth host of the Decatur symbiote, was joined in 2403 following the death of Dezerol. Stephanie's selection at such a relatively young age was a surprise to everyone involved, including her. She didn't know until she was joined that Dezerol Dax had selected her personally due to her choice of a Starfleet career and her intelligence. |
