Vela is curious, inquisitive but respectful and professional.

She can elicite deep emotional response from people but cans get herself caught in her own effect as well. She can be agressively professional and intimately soft.

To get the story of the century no less; she enlisted on the USS Horizon once learning that this new majestic vessel was to be the flagship of Lotus Fleet, the most mediatized Starfleet division since the Borg War; and that captain Kheren, famous for discovering the Azimuth Horizon while ine command of the legendary Stalwart Guardian of the Federation and one of the great architects of Operation Horiszon, was to command that flagship. She has a gut feeling that the story she seeks will happen either around the captain of the new USS Enterprise... or this one.

Vela enjoys music, swimming and the Terran game of Go; she is an excellent player of this game. She is also a voracious reader, especially about space exploration and Starfleet missions and quite knowledgeable in Starfleet and Federation History and politicial matters.

She is a honor graduate in journalism at the Labok University on Andoria, the first ever non-Andorian to earn such a distinction at this university, one of the most famous in all of the UFP

Twice suffered Andorian flu; once on her first year on Andoria and once before being assigned to the USS Nuntio as a reporter. Still carries the infection but is now neither contagious nor suffering for it because of her highly efficient immune system.

Has been a junior journalist for UFP Media and a fearless, much followed war correspondent during the Borg War, until the famous incident about the discovery of the Azimuth Horizon anomaly. Her coverage of the entire event and especially her premature but touching eulogy of the crew of the USS Artemis was seen and touched billions all across the UFP and earned her senior journalist status.

She was scheduled to board the USS Nuntio as lead reporter but a severe case of Andorian flu force dher to relinquish her assignment to someone else... and thus avoided the disappearance of the media starship for herself.

The commissionning of the USS Horizon has offered her a new opportunity to report in depth and on the spot the renewed deep space exploration efforts and state of the art Starfleet tech and so, was accredited as media relation officer on board the Lotus Fleet new flagship.

The first duty of a Starfleet officer is to the Truth; so it is to the reporter as well. The first must uphold it; the second must make it be known
