Physical Description | As with most Bynar, 011 and 110 are extremely short compared to the average human population. They are also very thin, although not unhealthily so. Even Bynar considered to be "overweight" are lighter than the average human due to a very light skeletal and muscular system. The physique of 011 and 110 is akin to a human girl of approximately 8 years of age, although they would not be mistaken as children, due to being fully developed adults. Despite this difference in height and build, their heads are approximately the same size as a fully grown adult female. Their skin is closest to the Earth hue of lavender. Their foreheads and the side of their heads contain skeletal ridges. Their ears are inset and do not contain lobes. The only hair they possess is in tendrils that only exist on the very back of their heads, just above the nape of the neck. All other features are approximately human, and they contain the same sexual and reproductive organs as most standard alpha and beta quadrant humanoids, at least externally. Internally, they possess computerized components. Similarly to the Borg, they contain neural sub-processors and muscular servos that assist in thought processes and movement, and allow them to interface directly with computers. Unlike the Borg, however, they frown on enhancing or changing their external appearance so it is not evident without an intrusive medical procedure that these computerized parts even exist. |

Family History | 011 and 110 were born to unknown Bynar parents on Bynaus. Not much is known about their history before they were 2 years of age, at which point they were found on a damaged, abandoned Bynar vessel by medical researchers Peter Pifke and Renee Couture. The researchers took the twins back to Earth and officially adopted them on stardate 55037.73. Peter and Renee attempted to assign them Earth names, but as they grew up, they rejected them in favor of their binary names which were artificially embedded into their computer memories at birth. They preferred to be referred to literally as "Zero One One and One One Zero", but, as they grew accustomed to the English language, would also answer to "3 and 6". The order was important to them. Being called "One One Zero and Zero One One" would be analogous to saying a Bajoran name backward, putting the given name first and the family name last. There was no order of importance given to 011 implied by this; they simply preferred to hear their designations in numerical order. This is a personal preference determined over time (a personal preference always shared equally by both), as some Bynar, such as famed "One Zero and Zero One", who attempted to hijack the Enteriprise-D will like to hear their designations in reverse numerical order. As they grew older they were able to easily adapt to Earth customs and behavior, but always have had, as observed by humans, a rigid personality. Their thought processes are actually so quick due to their computerized parts that they have to slow down their thinking to communicate with humans. This results in a somewhat halted manner of speaking. They will always share sentences, as their minds are constantly linked together. Sentences will always start being said by 011 who always stands on the right, and be ended by 110 on the left, so it is always known by outside observers who is whom. If the sentence is one word, it will only be said by 011. When they adopted 011 and 110, Peter and Renee had a 13 year old son, George, and no other natural-born children. They decided to have no additional children, focusing on raising the three they now had. Peter and Renee continued to work as a pair on medical research in Portland, and occasionally would take a trip to another world to study the population or attempt to cure or treat a disease there. While this would happen, the children would be taken care of by Renee's parents, Jackson and Peloria. |
Personality & Traits
General Overview | To the outside observer, 011 and 110 will appear very rigid and unemotional. The need to slow their speech will make it seem almost Vulcan-like in its unemotional delivery. In fact, they are a very emotional species and when communicating with each other, which will be heard by humans as an unintelligible, high frequency sound, their speech pattern will actually contain additional information on a second frequency range that is emotional data, similar to the way humans add emotional inflection into their speech. |
|
Strengths & Weaknesses | Bynar are generally very physically weak. In their natural state they would hardly be able to lift 5 kilos, so from age 10 onward they are continually enhanced with computerized muscular servos. Their strength lies in their mental capacity which is actually slightly more enhanced than Vulcans even without their computerized parts. Adding the neural sub-processors makes their mental capacity, on average, approximately 3-4 times that of an average Vulcan in both speed and storage capacity. This results in a mental capacity and speed 9-12 times that of an average human, to the point where their ability to retrieve data and calculate figures seems almost to match that of an android like Data, although in truth they could never reach such a state, so it is in appearance only. They are also a very emotional and compassionate race, although it does not show to outsiders. Therefore this is a strength for 011 and 110 who are extremely compassionate and empathetic, almost to a fault, and take the Hippocratic Oath very seriously. Their only weakness in medicine is their inability to express this verbally to their patients, so bedside manner is always something they strive to work harder on. |
|
Ambitions | Their original ambitions of being general medical practitioners and then Starfleet Officers met, their ultimate ambition is to make it easier for Bynars to exist outside of Bynaus without the assistance of their medical computers and machinery. |

Basic History
Personal History | Growing up on Earth was challenging to 011 and 110, as they had to adapt to the human way of speaking. However, this would later serve to make them better doctors as they could more easily communicate with their patients than any other Bynar would be able to do. They also became more familiar with human customs than their own. The educational goals of 011 and 110 thus turned to medicine, as their medical situation (see Medical History) compelled them to find a better way for Bynars to exist and be healthy outside of Bynaus without the need to have medical equipment accompany them whether they went. Peter and Renee were thrilled with the twins' chosen career path, and encouraged their interest as they had already done for their natural-born son, George, who had an interest in the humanoid brain. George became a successful neurosurgeon just as 011 and 110 began medical school. |
|
Medical History | The only real struggle Peter and Renee had to deal with was the twins' physical health. At age 5, their computerized parts made it difficult for any doctor on Earth to diagnose and treat an illness they had contracted, so their parents had to elicit the help of medical specialists from Bynaus. This pair was a rare and lucky find, as on Bynaus all the medical procedures are done by computers and the medical profession is all but extinct on their planet. Most if not all Bynars grow up to be engineers and scientists as computers and machinery has pretty much done away with the need for any other profession. After several sessions with the Bynar doctors, a medical diagnostic and treatment machine was acquired for the twins which allowed them to be treated as they would be on Bynaus. They never really quite adapted to the machine and would've preferred the Bynar doctors, but their time was needed elsewhere to help in similar situations where Bynar were elsewhere in Federation space away from Bynaus. In addition to the medical equipment, they were given a special pair of interconnected beds that served to connect them in sleep as they do when awake and interfaced into a computer. This allowed them to share their dreams for the first time and created a much more relaxing sleep than they ever had experienced before. |
