Family History | Max Adams went through Starfleet Academy graduating with honors for warp theory. During his time in the Academy he would frequent the local bars. One of the bars employed Diana Strauss, who was doing waitressing part-time while she attended college to become an Elementary school teacher. It was pretty much love at first sight. They dated for 3 years, up to the time Max graduated from the academy 1 year after Diana graduated. When Max received his assignment he was fearful that he would be forced to separate from his love. The assignment was directly to the Utopia Fleetyards to train as Quality Control for warp nacelle construction. Diana new that it would not be long before Max was sent out of the solar system on duty, and she was crying when he approached her after receiving his duty commands. Immediately Max got one one knee in the same bar they had met 3 years earlier, told her of his permanent stationing at Mars shipyards, and asked her for her hand in marriage. It was a dream come true for her. Mars needed teachers. As soon as the newlyweds were settled into their home Max and Diana conceived their first son, John. John has two brothers, Jake and Jack. Jack Adams is his younger brother. The brothers are all seperated by one year of age difference. Jake always poked fun at John for his love of playing the piano instead of going out to rough house with the other boys. Jake was a bit of a bully to John seeing that Jake was much bigger and stronger than John, but their fights never got to rough and as time went by they grew out of it and embraced each other as equals. Jack would follow John around everywhere he went, and even though Jack's naivety aggrivated John, he still loved him and would try to protect him from Jake's bully tactics. Currently John has a good relationship between his two brothers. |
Personality & Traits
General Overview | John is pretty much laid back and easy going. His time spent as assistant Chief Engineer on Deep Space K-7 taught him how to get along with many diverse and sometimes violent species, such as the Klingons. John isnt the quiet type, yet he isnt the type that will talk your ears off. In tense social situtions, John is usually the one who makes a joke to change the subject once that "awkward silence" happens. Teamwork is extremely important to John, and he has endevored to be a good team member and leader if need be. John doesnt let power go to his head. On the contrary, each promotion John has received has made him more cautious of how he presents himself to others. John will sometimes go out of his way to apologize and repair relations with those whom he thinks he has offended.
Strengths & Weaknesses | John has a weakness for alcohol. When on shore leave John likes to keep a steel flask of liquor in his pocket almost all the time. John isnt the type who gets drunk every day, but he sometimes wishes for a shot here and there especially when things are going bad. John has a weakness for new types of alcoholic drinks that he has not tried yet, and he will show great interest in them when he becomes aware of their existence. John is also a fool for women. Some of the worst decisions he has made in his life included liquor and women. John is a major team player. He is fair minded and honestly cares for the well being of the people around him even if he doesnt know them personally. John is quick to do favors for those who ask John is easy going with those under his command except for liars. John will harshly punish any subordinate that he catches lying to him, even so much that his peers would sometimes have to pull him off to the side and plead for the underlings mercy.
Ambitions | John would very much love to command his own Ptolemy tug class Starship. The idea of a hauling important gear, or delivering a new warp nacelle to a stranded starship in what amounts to be a mechanics shop with a warp drive appeals to him greatly. Its the best of both worlds to him: Mechanical work and adventure. John also likes the idea of being a Chief Engineer for a starbase. Especially a starbase that isnt far from a beautiful planet of blue oceans, white sands, and scantly clad women. John has no ambitions for fighting or wars.
Hobbies & Interests | John loves the piano. One of his prized posessions is a keyboard that he can roll up and take anywhere with him. John also loves reading. It doesnt matter what the topic is, he will read it: Fiction, History, Science, etc.. |
Basic History
Personal History | John spent the vast majority of his childhood in the shipyards of Planitia, his mother teaching him elementary education while his father frequently took him to his job as Nacelle QC. John enjoyed his childhood playing in all sorts of Starfleet ships and acquiring a very intimate knowledge of Starfleet engineering that very few people have ever experienced. John's childhood was an easy childhood compared to most humans, the only difference is that where other boys got to play with model starships, John got to play with the real thing. John had occasional on and off loves, and he always enjoyed the attention of a woman, but his first and lasting true love was Engineering. John has been playing the piano since the age of 9, and he still trys to fit in at least an hour of practice per day.
Medical History | Suffered some broken bones during his tour on Deep Space K-7 from interactions with the Klingons; all have been healed. No serious conditions.
Service Record | As soon as he was able, John enlisted into Starfleet Academy. Graduating with a degree in Engineering, John was given a choice for his duties. He could return to the Shipyards of Mars to help his father, or he could be assigned to the destroyer USS LUCIFER to patrol the outskirts of Sol system. John Chose USS LUCIFER. After a rather uneventful tour, John returned to Mars for an extended shore leave. Starfleet once again gave John his choice of Planitia Shipyards or Deep Space K-7 as assistant Chief Engineer. John could not shake the spirit of adventure, so after a three months of visiting his family and helping out at Planitia shipyards, he decided to take the promotion. John’s father was very proud that his first born son was moving so very quickly up the ladder in Starfleet. Deep Space K-7 had just started their 3rd joint civilian/Starfleet upgrade when John arrived. Being situated on the outskirts of the Klingon Empire, John grew accustomed to working side by side with Klingon officers. Within his first year being station at K-7 John learned enough of the Klingon language to speak and read it comfortably. |
