Growing up on one of the first human colonies was different for Nathan. His parents were fairly well to do so he never had to worry about looking after himself as he was an only child.
The colony, at the edge of the Romulan Neutral Zone and the Klingon peace Treaty zone, was one of the first to fall under the first Borg invasion. loosing his whole family, his world to the Collective, he vowed vengeance and joined Starfleet with a passion.
Academy Years: Nathan was not an exemplary student at Starfleet Academy but nor was he a low performing one. He performed reasonably throughout his training before graduating. He was an average student no more no less and was sent to Starbase 10 for his first posting on the Engineering team.
His first deep space assignment was aboard the newly commissionned Akira class USS Tempest; the first ship to fall to the new Borg on the eve of the War of a Thousand Cubes.
His whole world and life became but the Collective until finding himself one of the few rescued drones brought back by then tactical Lieutenant Kelsey Alther on board the rescuing USS Spectre and afterwards successfully treated by the innovative treatment of the ship's CMO, Dr Elliago Nasaro-Myth.
After the Borg War, he was sent back for a time to complete healing back on Earth and fully recover his Humanity. He has now been reinstated to full active duty and brought back to serve on Starbase 10.
