I have not watched an refuse to at this time because of the crap storm that was Discovery, at leas for now, if I hear things changed and they are moving away from that nonsense that is "Crap Trek" as I refer to it then maybe I might get Paramount plus for a moth and binge watch it.

It is not as bad as Discovery, if you decide to check it out sometime. You can read our earlier responses, but they do contain spoilers.

Not as bad as DIS is like saying rotten meat is not as bad as rotten fish.

The only thing Boring Old Worlds has over Disgracery is that it is more brightly lighted, the ship is not ugly and nonsensical and there is one good actor (Anson Mount). In every other aspect, it is DIS 2.0; especially in being mediocre and anti-Trek.

Everything we have seen of it so far tells me that Pukehard S3 will follow the same deceitful, exploitative recipe.

lol... come on... don't hold back... what do you really think? ;-)

Can't argue with that comparison too much though.

It is sad that this hijacking of Star Trek has continued for so long.  I suppose that they (Paramount, CBS and affiliates) assume that those that truly respect and appreciate more authentic Trek have either moved on or died... or they just don't give a crap. Probably a combination of all of that.

You will recall as well as I do that initially, Roddenberry's ideas were either ill-received or completely misunderstood by the studios in HIS time, even when HE was there to explain it all and fight for it, and find like-minded people to make it so.

Things haven't changed; except he is not there anymore. And the few who did understood Star Trek are either retired... or working on The Orville after being refused to do Trek.

We live in the dark times of entertainment. Look what also happened to just about every other IP in the last decade; Star Wars, Dr Who, He-Man, Willow, Lord of the Rings... even Marvel is now but a distorted shadow of what it has been.

They say things get worse before they get better. Seems we are now at the worst part.

Hopefully.

I will be honest I have lost a lot of interest in TV shows and Movies in the last few years due to a lack of originality or imagination. With that said I firmly believe one of the best movies to come out in the last 5 or 6 years without a shadow of a doubt was Ghostbusters Afterlife, I know a lack of originality on that movie reusing Gozer and all but, it felt like a ghostbusters movie and a continuation from the first two, minus Ecto1-A with the lack of explanation as to what happened to that car lol and one can only hope something new and different starts to happen with these movies and tv shows.

I share your feelings. I used to go to the cinema every week, watch dvds and Youtube often. Now I barely go once a month and the dvds and youtube vids I watch occasionally are of old shows and movies from before 2010 (often waaaay before). It's amazing how everything before was not necessarily high quality, original or deep, but it was entertaining, at least made sense internally and didn't insult your intelligence.

Just rewatched the old Green Hornet series and now starting Hercules The Legendary Journeys; two shows that can be criticized in many ways except one; they were indubitably entertaining and made to be so. I miss those kind of shows which are a rarity these days.

One saving grace I have is being French Canadian. It allows me easy access to content Americans have unfortunately little if any clue about. For example, I just bought a classic Quebec TV series (Les Belles Histoires des Pays D'En Haut; Nice Stories from the High Lands). The richness of the characters , quality acting and historical accuracy is peerless.

Today I am going to go see Asterix Et L'Empire Du Milieu (Asterix in China). It's a French movie based on a comicbook from Belgium known the world over (including the US of course) which will have no other goal but to make you laugh with a parody of History and culture, especially the French themselves. This is the kind of movie today's Hollywood would never allow.

But rumors has it that the pendulum is now starting to swing back. May we all live long enough to see the return of good shows and movies. Maybe even Star Trek?
