As I said above Jureth is definitely conflicted and I feel with the right pitch he might persuaded to become complicit in any solo plan as he already has thoughts of turning the proposed mission on its head particularly if that pitch were to come from an officer (or former officer) he respects...even admires.

I would still expect some type of confrontation between Samji and Jureth...the impulsive Bajoran I think nearly gave Samji a coronary with the little stunt he pulled previously...that in and of itself could be way to push Jureth towards acting outside the chain of command.

If there is no objection to Sorripto really going all out I can take the Alsea from Jureth whether he wants me to or not. I mean Sorripto acted out under Crist and I got my story in even without the Captain playing along. However I think a good RP moment would be for Sorripto to have everything and be confronted by Jureth only for Jureth to let him pass, or help him in some way. It is cliché, but I think it fits both characters very well.

Oooh...so I was in the shower (where I do my best thinking) and had a thought with pictures :) Since Jureth is already thinking about possibly subverting the mission and he wants to staff the Alsea with officers he thinks would support him what if he recruited Sorripto directly...possibly at the same time as the two resigned officers approached both Sorripto and Rogers. That could bring the whole A-Team together without them all even knowing it was happening.

Kheren would need some incentive himself to approach Jureth with any ''cowboy idea'' since at first glance he complied with Starfleet orders... and Kheren would not even think of jeopardizing Jureth's career.

One idea coming to mind; maybe every officer could come up with the same ''cowboy idea'' without knowing what the others have in mind and suddenly find themselves in the same place at the same time wanting to do the same thing... but each unable to pull it off until the others join in.

Something like:

1- Jureth, having second thoughts, is thinking about going alone on the pretext of scouting enemy forces and to try and attempt something; but for this he needs to safeguard his crew by leaving them behind. But that would mean fully automating the complex Alsea, a daunting task for him... and parts for QSD make over are back order due to much upheaval since Kheren and Syntron resigned...

2- Syntron, steadfast in upholding the values of peace, wants to act as a private ambassador a la Spock and go before the fleet does. He knows official request will be denied at this point so he needs an ''unofficial'' way of getting there. But now without a ship... and a ship fast enough, of which there is so few available at the moment... only 2 in fact...

3- Kheren is determined not to let Starfleet turn into a Dominion 2.0 and is planning to reach the aliens and reason with them, warn them, scare them, anything... by stealing the only ship apart from the Horizon currently capable of speeds beyond standard warp; the decommissionned USS Lotus and it's experimental transwarp drive. But stealing a starship is not in his skillset. And because he wants no one to shoulder the burden of his crimes, the ship would need to be fully automated; again, not in his skillset.

4- Always curious, Rogers could find out somebody, no one quite remembers who, is asking a lot of questions to a lot of junior engineers, like trying to get a crash course in ship automation and transwarp technology. And that someone is lurking around the decommissionned Lotus; but it is not captain Jureth, more openly discussing ship automation on a curious pretext of mitigating crew death and EHO failure... he too might have doubt about the annouced impeding war but not being a captain, cannot use a ship to try something...

5- Never put off by appearances and ''official talk'' Sorripto could be digging up some computer and engineering activity; someone has poked extensively into certain files about transwarp technology, starship automation, Intrepid class schematics, even one David Rogers criminal record; someone else is looking to charter a space flight, destination unknown; the captain of the Alsea is making pretty odd inquiries about starship automation and faster than warp travel... He too might have doubt about the annouced impeding war but not being a captain, cannot use a ship to try something...

I imagine a scene where all of them inadvertently meet on board or near the Lotus, each for his own reason (Jureth thinking a spy is at work, Rogers that it is a saboteur, Syntron just curious to see if the Lotus could fit his needs and ask for her use, Kheren trying to get aboard, Sorripto following the ''paper trail'' etc), only to find all of them there for the same purpose; save the Federation from it's downfall. And so, an alliance is struck, a ship is available and the tech to make it so available... with two ace engineers to pull it off.

Throwing ideas out there.

Anyway, things are shaping up nicely gentlemen.

carry on :)

I have posted a dressing down of Jureth by Samji, please let me know if you think the dialogue is out of character for Samji at all. I felt that it was appropriate coming from a senior officer who was angered/embarrassed by someone under him. I've also...run into Kheren's post :)

Excellent post Jureth and IMHO totally appropriate.

These are very different and tensed times and Samji is not one to let his starbase be disrupted by anything even in the best of times; and he too is certainly struggling with his conscience about what Starfleet is about to do. That he would throw the book at you and inadvertently vent it out on you is plausible, especially since he cannot do so on Kheren and Syntron... or the Federation Council.

And I personally like to see a Starfleet that works like a proper military organization instead of an underfunded school of mentally-challenged teenagers in space.

Thanks for also engaging in this exchange with the rogue Andorian. Should be fun.

I'll wait for an opportunity to do the same with Jeff's Vulcan post as well.

I like the ideas so far. With all the rumblings going on Sorripto would definitely be snooping. Should I continue my Sorripto side mission forum, or post elsewhere with it? Honestly though I like the idea of Jureth recruiting Sorripto only to find out Sorripto was already working on it. It is very fitting to the one step ahead character Sorripto has for him to be half finished with the task before anyone asks him to do it.

Well I'm all for it. It's up to the others as well. I like Sorripto as our LF Garak even if more formal in a Starfleet sense ;)

Garak is always who I based him off of.

My post will remain open for anyone wanting to join Kheren in a private out of the way conversation.

A more openly public one involving also Syntron can be initiated on Jeff"s post as well.
