I didn't want to throw in that my Mom died in her nursing home right after covid started up, they won't really confirm or deny anything.
But she was old and in bad mental/ phyical health, so I didn't push it.
Re: Men Of Good Conscience OOC
My 2 cents...
Sometimes when things in our lives are at their worst is when our creativity manages to flourish, as if to help us compensate with the struggles. Perhaps some of that turmoil could be channeled into what a character may also be dealing with in some form.
We were able to resurrect our fleet RP this past year after an extended hiatus. We employed a different approach with different, inexperienced characters. It was a bit of a risk, and yet somehow we managed to pull it off. Now we have the opportunity to reach back to our veteran characters. Time has passed so it would seem that these characters may have changed as well to some degree. Any changes we see fit are within each of our control.
There are no strict rules of engagement here. We have this OOC thread to bounce ideas around with, like the PMs that helped us get this next chapter started. We can vent, ask questions, or ask for advice or clarification whenever needed.
I find that often the most challenging aspect is just getting started... so sometimes I may just begin with a few simple sentences. Then the interactions of others may spark more ideas or participation.

Very sorry to hear about your mom Redding. No matter how old we are or they are it is always tough to lose a family member.
As Sorripto said we will be happy to have you as much as you feel like contributing. It is times like this where I think communities like this are important. We don't perhaps know all that each other go through but being able to come together to enjoy a common passion can only be good for everyone.
That said, you must do what is right for you and we will accept whatever that may be.

Re: Men Of Good Conscience OOC
My deepest condolenscences for your loss Redding.
Having lost my aunt, my father and my fiancee in the same year, I have an idea how you must feel right now.
Yeah it has been a crappy time in politics, society and health; and that our favorite and inspiring entertainement has been mangled beyond recognition was no help. When you turn around from reality to breathe a little only to find Michael Burnham, Senile Picard, Rey Palpatine of Jam Jamoram, it's not helping.
Do not see this RP as any kind of obligation. It's here for you to have fun and for us to enjoy your company and creativity. Whatever you contribute will be appreciated. If you can't find the time or even just the mood for it, do not think a second that we think less of you or that you are letting us down. This is play. Sometimes, we don't feel like playing.
But if and when you do, you know where to find us.
Take care of your kid, your love and yourself.
Regards,
Kheren
EDIT: I'll wait Monday and then I will IC make an explanation why Gould is not at the meeting so that we can move on without you being forced to show immediately and without cutting you off. If and when needed, we will easily work something out to bring you back on board later on. So no sweat, take your time.

Re: Men Of Good Conscience OOC
For better or worse, Captain Kheren has now committed himself.
Please remember that YOU are in control of YOUR character. It is up to YOU to decide where YOU want YOUR character to be.
No one is required by the story to take one stance or another. If you go along with Kheren, it is your choice and you do it in your own way. If you would rather stay with the fleet, even if only to mitigate the situation or openly to oppose him in his choice and behavior out of your own character's convictions, the story will give you any and all opportunities to do so and have you bring your own original input on it.
As you know, there are no villains in Star Trek. In Star Trek, there are only antagonists. This role remains open to you if you so wish to play it regarding other PCs. If you play it against Starfleet and go rogue with him, again do it in your own way.
He made his choice. YOUR choice is YOURS. Make it fun first and foremost for you and it will be fun for all of us equally.
Now where is that Cardassian... and that half-Romulan...

Re: Men Of Good Conscience OOC
Hopefully I portrayed this well, but Jureth is quite conflicted at this point in the story. He obviously has voiced serious reservations, but still feels duty bound to Starfleet and as was stated is hoping he can prevent catastrophe better from within than from without.

Re: Men Of Good Conscience OOC
I think you played this out well. The different reactions/results thus far of these officers emphasizes the intensity and conflict within the proposed mission.
This is by no means a mission that has a clear resolution... like a singular adversary or impending event that has to be dealt with.
This will likely be messy and complex... which should allow this to be quite a bumpy yet interesting ride.

I am back and caught up. Awesome job guys. Just let me know when the recently departed leadership need an old Cardassian friend to steal them a Starship and I am there.

Working on it
As Jureth was the last one present at the meeting, the current post should be called concluded.
At this point, the news of both Syntron and Kheren resigning will fly at warpspeed through the starbase and then beyond and detonate like a quantum torpedo. The fact that no reason will be given except ''classified'' will bring about much speculation; and there will be massive ripples in the coming days, on the Horizon, the Phoenix and well beyond.
There is also now a general call for duty and a frantic round the clock work to turn most ships of the fleet to QSD tech and resupply them obviously for engagement; at least in the temporary configuration once made to the USS Voyager. Again much speculation will fly as all details will be on a need-to-know-only basis only and according to rank. i.e. there will be absolutely no mention whatsoever of the omega particle to anyone not at least of active captain rank (not position) although retired/inactive ones might guess about it...
Veteran of the Borg invasion and Azimuth Horizon operation will certainly have a feeling of déja vu. It will be a time of great upheaval, almost chaos, at least for a time. So to borrow lines of the marionation show Stingray:
''Stand by for Action! Anything can happen in the next half hour!''
Or days...
So everyone, use this context to come up with POV posts and interaction posts between 2 or more of us to bring it to it's dramatic second act: Enemy Starfleet!
On a side note: the expected ''steal of the Alsea'' might not occur since Jureth has committed himself to stay faithful to Starfleet. Although it might still be in the cards if he is either convinced to change his position, or forced to, or comes about on his own... or if the Alsea is actually stolen from him... or he keeps the Alsea and we have a Lotus Fleet ship to ship face off...
Again to use a quote, this time from the Empire Strikes Back:
''(The Alsea)... is our only hope.''
''No; there is another.''
Many options here. Thoughts?
