Or the upcoming Axanar.
As long as they are stuck with Screwing Hideout and Klutzman, there will be no true Trek.
They killed STC because it showed the world what they would not care to do (real Trek) and stunted Axanar because it was about to shame to death their same timeframe crap of STD.
But Klutzman is on his way out, already sidelined.
Bad Reboot still has it's alternate license but Abrams has now moved on to exploit and destroy a third major franchise (the DCEU)
Les Moonves who killed real Trek back in 2005 and hired Kurtzman and co is out as well as his staff.
Viacom is again merged with CBS; so are all the Classic Trek licenses.
Sheri Redstone is in as the CEO of VIACOMCBS. She dislikes current Faux Trek, wants Classic Trek back as even the 1966 show's merchandize is still bringing in millions. It is their flagship and one of the most successful, loved and enduring TV show ever... until the current fiasco. She is allegedly watching things very closely now.
Seth McFarlane and other true fans and competent producers are again starting to consider pitching for Trek; real Trek, not NU-Trek crap. If McFarlane could do so much Trek with the Orville, imagine what would happen if he got the real thing; and brought in people like Alec Peters, Vic Mignona, James Cawley...
Again we will be boldly go where no one has gone before... but this time, in the RIGHT direction.

Re: Jean-Luc Picard is back! New Star Trek Series!
So... I purchased a subscription again to CBS All Access on Thursday mainly to watch Picard.
Surprisingly, I enjoyed it. Was it perfect? No. Was it intriguing? Yes.
I'm going to watch it again tonight to absorb it a bit deeper.
The other reason I got the subscription though was so that I could stream Young Sheldon without commercials. I hadn't seen it this season at all. In this show there are many tributes to Star Trek through Sheldon which are so enjoyable; especially his admiration for Spock and TOS. Plus its a great ensemble cast. It is really an enjoyable show on many levels, including being witty and satirical while also having so many threads from Big Bang Theory to follow and bring into fruition. If you liked the Big Bang Theory and haven't watched this show I highly recommend it!
I guess time will tell whether Picard will do better than STD... but I believe it couldn't do any worse. There at least seems to be a premise for Picard to follow. How they follow this up will depend so much on the writing.

Re: Jean-Luc Picard is back! New Star Trek Series!
Glad for you if you enjoyed it.
Personally, I enjoyed for once characters that are not all despicable and appreciated the first 3 minutes. And then it crashed and burned I cringed as much as in STD and for the same reasons:
1- A Mary Sue story
2- Set firmly in the Abramsverse
3- With nonsense events an action scenes trying to copy the MCU formula
4- Portraying a dystopia instead of the Star Trek utopia
5- With complete disregard and ignorance of canon
6- With moronic comic book villains and contrived character relationships
7- In an avalanche of premises like they try to tell 4 stories at once
8- each premise making no sense in the Star Trek universe
9-And the same awful production style as STD except much cheaper (because STD season 3 is massively overbudget and had to cannibalize the new show).
What is allegedly coming up is not hinting that it will get any better:
1- It will be linked directly to STD season 3
2- It aims to be relevant, which means worthless in a very short time instead of being timeless as Star Trek is supposed to be.
3- The TNG cameos are concentrated on the first 3 episodes to hook people and then it's full Kurtzmantrek from then on
4- Space Elf archer coming up (to go with the Klingorcs I guess)
And there is even a rumor going around that Picard will be killed by the end of the 1st season and that in the 2nd season the renegades SHIP will be named Picard. Considering the huge paycheck Sir Patrick must be commanding and the financial problems of Kurtzmantrek (STD is currently costing around 40 millions per episode!) and their fondness for ''shock twists'' for the sake of them, I can beleive this rumor...
But we'll see. In any case, they have already established in this first episode that anyone can now become immortal and brought back to to life with all memories and abilities intact, even in another totally different body of another nature entirely. This way, they could even take any actor (or actress!) to become the new, ressuscitated Jean-Luc Picard (and now ripping off Doctor Who).
That's how absurd Star Trek has now become, thanks to this new series. STD destroyed TOS. STP will now destroy TNG if not also VOY along with it.
Now, if the other rumor could be true about CBS selling the Trek license to NBC (which in fact created and broadcasted TOS) and Seth McFarlane now at NBC picking it up...
Please make it so.
