Star Trek: Horizon

Postby BLZBUB » Mon Feb 29, 2016 1:09 pm

No ... not OUR Horizon. The fan film Star Trek: Horizon was released and is on YouTube. Just finished watching it and I will say it is a damn fine movie for an indie film. And why not ... Trek fans make great Trek. :)

The NX-04, USS Discovery ... very nice ship. The Romulan enemy ... oh wait ... too many spoilers already. If ya want to watch it on YouTube:

Disclaimer at front and back of film. Not endorsed by CBS/Paramount Pictures. They have to say that.

I thorouhly enjoyed the full hour and forty + minutes of the film.

Aside from anachronisms with the Romulans (just refer yourself to TOS Balance of Terror), the emotional scenes a bit too long and the asinine villain motivation (Orci & Kurtzman), this is darn good. No way a deep story of the best Trek caliber, but still better than anything that we have been given since the end of Enterprise (I mean officially; Star Trek Continues and some other fan-based projects are keeping the torch high).

It's quite amazing and obvious to see how virtually everyone seems to understand and do Star Trek better than CBS and Abrams; and they're the ones holding the real thing (sigh). Shows why you MUST have REAL Trek fans at the helm, not trek fans pretenders. Guess it is obvious now why CBS is starting to hunt down these indies. These honest, amateur efforts are shaming them to no end... and being mere producers, they still don't have a clue why. (never had btw).

Fair screenplay, nice effects, adequate music, good acting; All in all, enjoyable. Thanks for sharing BLZBUB.
