Well, i signed up. Not real sure I can be done by the deadline but I'll give it a go.

I would like to throw in a little "Lotus Fleet" recognition in the story, but I'm not sure how.

Instead of a 'Nova Squadron', have a "Lotus Fleet" squadron.

Being in Quebec where we have very stringent laws about gambling (although we have government-run and native-run casinos... go figure) I am excluded from any and all contests outside of my province because other provinces, states and countries will not bother to abide by those rules.

Would have been nice though... Good luck to you fleetmates who will participate. We do have lots of talent in here.

Lotus Fleet is U.S. based. What about a combined effort? Like a RP episode.

That may be the way to accomplish this Arina.

I'm Not against this idea, but I think one of us would have to 'Claim credit' for the work officially, as the contest is for individuals and not groups. (an American it seems or I'd go with Kheren)

Using one of our missions only has the problem of editing and shortening (Our stories tend to be much longer than 10k words) and the addition of some of the Star Trek original crew. (Kirk, Picard ect..)

My slow down is that A: My house is currently being renovated and since I work nights I'm not getting much sleep.
B: I'm planning to get married next year (October 6th if your in the Georgia, Kennesaw area) and that's taking some work as well.
C: still can't get that dam spell check to work in the RP section, works get fine here of course.
I've had a few friends look at it but no one can figure out why it's not working so my fiance does all my editing, which also slows down my writing speed.

I was thinking of coming up with a story involving the women of Trek: Uhura, Chapel and Rand all meet up again after the 5 year mission on an assignment and work with then Commander Redding of that time period (He would not be the emphasis of the story) around the time of his first rebirth.

I am kind of hoping I can use this to launch some books about Redding's adventures in Lotus fleet.

If you read the official rules in the link i provided below, you will find that:

""...cannot have been previously published in any manner.""

and 

"" Entries may not be in the form of graphic novels or comic books.""

Both of these I think exclude using our RP stories.

Also of note, the rules state the limits of the entry to the established Star Trek universe and/or characters from the 5 television series or 10 movies.

Thus saying, Redding, I think your idea of Uhura, Chapel and Rand is a really good one.

I wasn't suggesting in any way to use existing RP episodes. Most of the technical aspects of the current RP episodes are far more advanced and innovative than in any of the series and films. Unless the progress of sciences are used in the 'new' episode, the writers have to fall back to the original specifications. I have read a small piece of the Fleet's RP and it's my opinion that you all can do it in a very short time.

I have a friend named Adam Fleet and I am sure there are quite a few people called Lotus.

Do I have to challenge the Fleet to try this? I can do a mean evil grin.
