The problem is, "beg to differ" means that you disagree with the original statement. Therefore, you were, in fact, stating that you disagreed with my statement of "There is absolutely nothing (in canon or in interviews with the designers of the ship) to support that the equipment pod could be used as a hanger bay or cargo pod."
Furthermore, the evidence that you used to support your disagreement is non-cannon. Therefore, your statement and evidence hold absolutely zero weight in disagreeing with my statement. That's not an opinion...that's just fact.
You can agree with my statement, and then add that in some non-cannon sources it is suggested that the Nebula equipment pod can do XYZ. That is entirely valid and I would not disagree with that statement. But do not contradict my statement when you have zero supporting facts to back it up.

Re: Starship Smackdown!
Hmmm. I am voting for the Ferengi vessel. Mostly because that little ship caused me so much trouble in my TNG gameboy game back in the early 90s haha. The day I figured out how to get Worf to activate shields and weapons was the best day of my young live. Then the Borg showed up and destroyed me.
So, for challenging me in my youth, I vote for D'Kora.
Though it was pretty close in my head. The Nebula was my ship of choice in Armada I and II.

Obviously I didn't understand the expression properly. Thanks for helping me with that.
That being said, my evidence is not entirely unsupported, since it is itself based on the sources for that material which are:
- Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Technical Manual
- Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual
- Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual CD-ROM
Granted, the official source doesn't specifically state that the pod can be a hangar bay or a hospital deck or several other possibilities like I mentionned; but it does state it is intended as a modular multipurpose platform; there is nothing stated that it can't be used as such either.
I mentionned those possibilities only for the purpose of supporting the concept of the Nebula being more than just a science ship. It is a simple logical assumption that should be taken as such.
That's certainly how I should have started my post, so that those who do not want to commit heresy from canon gospel would not assume that I intend to pervert the exclusive stated truth. Your last suggestion therefore is duly noted.

Re: Starship Smackdown!
No problem. Language barriers are a pain.
Hmmm, I also have:
As well as:
4. Star Trek: The Next Generation Writer's Technical Manual
5. Star Trek Voyager Writer's Technical Manual
I took a glance through those manuals and, while finding reference to the Nebula Class starships, did not see any specific mention of the "equipment pod". (In an interview, Michael Okuda describes how the producers didn't like the original 'AWACS' pod as seen in TNG: The Wounded. The producers were then gave direction for Rick Sternbach to design a cool-looking equipment pod.) Could you please point out the page number in the manuals that you are referencing? Thanks!
The purpose of canon is that it puts everyone on the same field. If I went and read additional books, play other games, you go and do the same, but not the same books and games and all of a sudden, we're all over the place. Heck, I could state that the Nebula class starship was the fastest starship in the fleet, achieving warp 10 safely! But guess what? I read that in a fan-fiction story and it's non-canon. Would you accept that as fact? I know that I wouldn't.
My adherence to canon is not because I lack imagination; rather, I can agree with you that the equipment pod could be used for other purposes. However, it is important to note when sources other than canon are being cited from. It is nothing personal; I simply like to know what is proven (canon) and what is theoretical (non-canon). That way, everyone can judge for themselves. Make sense?

Re: Starship Smackdown!
Congrats to the Nebula for winning out against the D'Kora 8-3. It's unfortunate that we lost another faction from the competition, but such is the will of the Fleet!
I will post the next challenge later tonight, so stay tuned!

Sorry I didn't get around to posting this when I had intended to. I was finishing up a landscaping job I've been working on at my house.
OK, next competition is between the Federation Sovereign and the Cardassian Galor. This is a special battle, as it is the final one in Round 1!
Federation Sovereign
Specifications
The successor to the famous Galaxy-class captained by Jean Luc Picard is a sleeker design that still maintains a lot of what made the Galaxy-class so revolutionary. The size is slightly smaller with its slimmer width and height, but it still is large enough to hold the crew's immediate family, along with being able to evacuate thousands of refugees. In terms of armament, it is comparable to the Galaxy-class, but with upgraded phasers, the addition of 2 more photon torpedo tubes, and 1 additional torpedo tube for the new, more powerful quantum-type that had been added to the Defiant and other newer models.
Cardassian Galor
Specifications
The Galor was a moderately powerful and all-around stable ship that could be produced in massive numbers, but were on-par tactically with the Federation Miranda-class. These ships would never take on another ship in battle with less than 3 to make up for the tactical disadvantage, so for tactical considerations, take that fact into account. These ships were built with the knowledge that many would be lost, similar to the Klingon Bird-of-Prey, so they would only attack like a pack of wild dogs as opposed to one-on-one. The armament varied, but the "top-of-the-line" ships would be outfitted with multiple phaser arrays and a half-dozen spiral-wave disruptors.

Oh... it's the Federation Sovereign for me!
Just such an all-around versatile vessel that is sleet and majestic in appearance and design.
I'd like to put my order in for one now!

Re: Starship Smackdown!
My least favorite E ship of all; basically just a Connie after going under a steamroller. As flat inspiring as it looks, a poor replacement to the majestic Galaxy class it suceeded just because the movies wished a different ship than the TV one and more of a warship than the traditional explorer cruiser.
Still, the fact of going against an E ship is quite a challenge; not one such an ugly, second rate vessel as the Galor can meet.
