"and if there are people who think that we’ve lost him to Star Wars this time around, that’s not the truth as far as we see it."
And here is where all the little hope I may had had left was phaser blasted to oblivion.

Re: J.J. Abrams' Chatter
"No word yet on when Paramount will be sending Star Trek 3 into theaters, though a release in 2016, which marks the franchise’s 50th anniversary, seems like a good bet. Of course, it’s all dependent on whether Orci, Payne and McKay deliver a script that the studio likes – and given Orci’s tumultuous relationship with the fans, I’d imagine the die-hards are crossing their fingers pretty tightly right about now."
Don't tell me someone out there is finally waking up from the dizzy ride...

Re: J.J. Abrams' Chatter
"If the best idea is when, suddenly, it seems like the best thing ever to do, is to have the Andorians running around, doing something cool, that's what it'll be."
In plain English: We have no clue what Star Trek is about so we don't care as long as the flashy screen sells pop-corn.
This reminds me sharply of an interview Gene Roddenberry once had where he talked about turning down someone who came to him with "such a cool scene with this and that and this and that..." and Roddenberry simply answering him by saying: "okay but... what is it about?" and the guy went silent and walked away with his "cool idea..."
When you have nothing to tell with a story, you just rehash old popular stuff, regardless of accepted lore, regardless of fan expectations, regardless of quality. Case in point:
"When we - somewhat - jokingly suggested that they might include Q, Orci said, "Sure, or Q." When asked if he'd go that far, Orci replied evasively, "I love Q! C'mon, who doesn't love Q?"
In other words: let's do like Spider-Man 3 when they put Venom in just because people loved Venom and in the process screw up and the character and the entire movie and the whole franchise with this "cool idea."
They even juggle with the idea of having their lame Khan in again...
A derelict ship lost in an ion storm with the crew gone insane; that is Star Trek (or what passes for ST these days) as we speak... and now on a clollision course with a black hole.
