that being said, it is one of the most capable cruisers to date, and i have a great idea for yours.

what im thinking is sneak attack burst damage with ability to hang in a fight, but also to GTFO if you need to.

i think adapted maco set 3 is the right choice. you get +25% torp damage, and you can mask your energy field. it will help you GTFO if you need to.

great warp core. love it. even better if you have the plasmonic leech console, or decide to go with the MACO set over the adapted maco set. (maco set has kind of an energry drain thing to it that adds to your power levels. but it conflicts with plasmonic leech, so beware, its one or the other.)


replay the devidian episode and get the subspace field modluator for ALL YOUR CHARACTERS. its practically the only non consumable device in game, and its also REALLY GOOD. its not good against voth, FYI.

do Defense Contract daily to get more dueterium surplus. consumable EM ftw. its in eta eridani, alhena system. its a daily.


kinetic cutting beam and 2x turrets aft. you want this thing to be a jaguar in the jungle. comes out of nowhere, bites your neck and runs away up a tree and watches over your lifeless corpse until it wants seconds.

that being said, go for dual heavy cannons. yes they drain more power, but they alos have a free crit severity built in, so its like having a FREE EXTRA modifier. they do the same damage as dual cannons yes, but they do it QUICKER. thats the key.

see if you can upgrade from mk X weapons. XIs are fine, XIIs if you have dil and EC falling out of your pockets.

swap that regular front beam array for another DHC. keep the DBB for - you guessed it. BEAM OVER LOAD.

move your cloak up to engineering, and get rid of those 3 consoles you have in there that do stuff.

im sure youre tired of hearing this - get an embassy science console :3

-threat. +emitters +plasma DoT....this will help you and hurt them. win win.

again - 4x tetryon boosting tac consoles. 

your other 2 ENG consoles?

fleet RCS with all resist. you want this baby to TURN. and the borg console. the borg set (weapon set) 2 bonus is incredible as it can give you weapon power and weapon power resistance. its kind of like a nadion inversion built in.

plus the console boosts tanking, damage and critH/D. 

the cutter itself is invaluable bc it deals kinetic damage, and has a 360 arc. cant lose.

maybe someday if you feel the avenger special VATA console isnt pulling its weight, get a rep console and throw it in there. 


now your powers::

ltcmdr tac:: BO1, CRF1, APB2 or:: BO1 APB1 APB2
ens tac: TT1
LT tac: tt1, crf1

cmdr eng: ept Engines1,(so you can escape!) DEM1 (deal damage thru their shields), eptW3 (this does more than just add power that you desperatly need to feed all your guns, it also adds a damage buff for 10s), aux to sif 3 (great heal and resist every 15s)

lt sci: HE1, TSS2 


see my previous comment on skill tree, except this time you want some points in STEALTH to take advantage of that neato cloak you got.

again, 6 in nearly everything you already have (maybe not sensors, your a tac cruiser right?), but 9 in the damage ones and accuracy.

PLEASE NOTE EVERYONE:: what i say isnt law, and there are MANY different playstyles. please take as much or as little of my advice as you would like.

i played a dedicated tank healer zombie for over 3 years until i got bored. 
i swapped over to the ambassador and have been experimenting as much as i can with different stuff in order to get better, do more damage, and help people grow in the game. it is my wish that the knowledge i gained be used to help people better their ships in order to fully enjoy the sound of their enemies blowing up.

like i said: i will parse your damage before, during and after your build process, will run elite content with you, and even 1v1 pvp with you to test strategies, builds, and to see what works and what doesnt.

I Have played as a klink BOP....fave ship to fly on klink side.

I do have a kinetic cutting beam, as well as many of the items you mentioned in your spec suggestion.

Also, i do "have Di falling out my @$$", apx 1 million.

I am waiting until the fleet upgrades all the way, so i can deck out in Tetryon and AP Mk XII's

as for a shield/engine/deflector set, what is your take on AEGIS (which happens to currently be on my CHIMERA.....which i suppose you will comment on later...LoL).

dump driver coil. its just not worth it. you have transwarp, and once you can get borg or maco engines, you can go fast enough.

you want points in electro plasma systems bc it buffs your eptx abilities and helps return power levels to normal, faster. really useful when swapping between presets, which you should be doing often.

warp core efficiency should be at 6. im not entirely sure it does anything of note after 6 ranks.

that being said, dont put more than 6 points in anything except the skills that buff weapon damage and accuracy.


more points to warp core potential! gotta feed those beams.
same goes for weapons performance.


points to dampeners if you ahve any spare.

drop susbspace decompiler too, not useful at all for your build.


when i have time, i will post a good skill tree that can be used with minimal tweaking for most builds.

i already made some ocmments on your Chimera, sir check earlier in the thread :)

i believe my thoughts on aegis are in there too.

but to sum it up:: aegis used to be the belle of the ball. now its just hard to get and not really worth it at all. it wil certainly do a good job, but sadly has been relegated more to a temporary set until you can max either omega or dyson rep.

i would say its slightly better than solanae, (the newest set from tuvok mission) but the time and Dil it takes is not particularly worth it now that theres a basically free option.


elite fleet shield with either borg deflector or engines, or maco/adapted maco by it self or combined with elite fleet shield is the currently flavor. the 3 piece of a set is often not worth it, and those elite fleet shields are crazy power creep.



so in conclusion, aegis is fine, but dont keep it for long. theres much better choices out there now.

this is actually pretty good, only a few recommendations.

get a dhc or another dual cannon for the front instead of that single cannon.

more damage!!

that warp core is really not that great. it will do until you can get something better,

rare mk 11s on the exchange are pretty cheap, find one that does S->W and has another usful modifier like efficiency

or just get a fleet one that boosts weapon power too, and has a shield capacitor.


as usual, i'd recommend working towards the borg cutting beam and borg console and slotting those. aft for the beam, enginering for the console.

the chance it gives at weapon power resists and bonuses will help with your weapon drain. it doesnt matter how many or how good your guns are if they dont have enough power to run. 

on that topic, i woudl say, get epts and eptw. doesnt matter which is the ensign and which is the LT
rsp has too long a cool down and only lasts a few seconds


swap sci team for TSS, as ST conflicts with TT. TSS doesnt so you can hit it more often, and it adds a resist.

that transwarp computer has got to go, or at least slot it out when youre in combat, and back in when you are done with the mission.

until you can get the borg console, the grappler can stay, that looks fun anyway.

the monotanium might be better swapped out for a fleet neutronium as it gives all kinds of resist instead of just kinetic. i think theres a hull heal buffing one too.

shield emitter amplifer is junk pretty much unfortunately, it only affects the passive every 6 second regen tick.

until you can get 2 fleet sci consoles that boost the shield healing skill, minuses your threat and heals your hull, 
just get a console tht boosts your emiiter ARRAY. not emitter AMPLFIER,

pick which one you like best.
your polarons would benefit from extra flow caps, just saying. but you probably want to stay alive so a pure tanking one might be more helpful.

as for your other sci console, maybe a field generator to increase the shield capacity, or another emitter array to help your shield heals.


ill asume that most of your gear isnt mk1 like this says. :)

get the subspace field modulator!
and some deuterium surplus!
also the nimbus pirate distress call. dont slot that. you dont need to. just keep it in your personal inventory and you can still summon the pirates.

also some weapons batteries.


more eps skill points!!!

no driver coil.

remember 6 points in everything except damage dealing ones and accuracy ones. and weapon performance in your case. 

with 6 in all those others, you should have enough points to get all the ones you dont have at 6, up to 6.

you made excellent choices. all the important ones are speced into, just not in the right amounts.


accuacy is very important, bc if your base accuracy is over 100, all that extra gets turned into crit chance and crit severity.

I've gotten the support role down pretty well (heals, buffs, etc), but when I'm by myself, I don't do a whole lot of DPS and die quickly. Looking to balance out the roles a bit so I can solo or take on a group of NPCs on my own.

PS: I know the best stuff comes from repetitive reputation grinding, but I'm not a grind player so I'd like to work with what equipment I have (or can easily obtain through Di or EC).

ok i will try to tailor this to not have rep gear in the suggestions.

i just typed out a massive well worded thing and this dumb compter erased it all so im sorry, you are going to get the abridged version.


drop high yield and get fire at will.

drop that phaser array in front and get a plasma beam array.

drop the dual beam bank and get a plasma beam array.


think about getting the plasma disruptor hybrids

theyre not purple but they are mk 11, and you get 2 procs for the price of one. disruptor has one of the best procs in game so your damage WILL go up from it. and they are free.


drop the rear torpedo for another plasma beam array.


go for broadsides. that combined with FaW should help you kill bad guys a lot better.

engineering powers:

EPTS1, DEM1, EPTW3


sci ENS powers

sci team, everyone will be counting onyou to have this, asyou are the science guy. try to only use it when TT is on cool down.

polarize hull. good choice, keep that.

drop tractor beam for another hazard emitters. more heals....



science LT powers::
hazard emitters, and transfer sheild strength.


sci ltcmdr and cmdr
GRAVITY WELL 1 and 3.


grav well is legit one of the best powers that ANYONE can play, not just a dedicated science guy.

i may never swap from my ambassador bc i can drop grav well and save the day in pve AND pvp.

it pulls them in. it hurts them. it lasts for 20 seconds.
when you kill something, all the other people in that grav wel; are going to FEEL that warp core exploding. NICE.

it can keep probes and nanite spheres from ruining your optional in the STFs. its wrth it just for that.

that, and the cool down isnt that bad.


feedback pulse isnt really a good idea bc it doesnt do that much damage and you dont want the aggro anyway. if you are getting shot at then your team isnt working correctly. you are there to debuff and throw out sci team and sub nuke. so make it hurt with those grav wells!


keep the neutronium, get rid of the other two.

if you have lobi, get a tacykinetic converter. it is baller for grav wellers.

do you have fleet marks?? 
if so, get FLEET neutronium plus turn or hull repair. try to get fleet marks if you dont have any.

if you have NO lobi or fleet marks, keep the neutronium, get another one, and also get a RCS excellerator or a SIF generator.



scence consoles.

get rid of the emitter AMPLFIER and the shield refrequencer. crew isnt very helpful in this game, theyre dead almost immediately. regeneration is also useless sadly.

pick up anothter emitter ARRAY to boost your shield heals, and a graviton generator to boost your grav welling.


do you have fleet marks? check out the embassy consoles. they are a good goal to work for. they can boost plasma damage!! and they can lower your threat, and can boost your grav well or shield healing.
these consoles can act as make shift damage boosting consoles for you bc you are using plasma, in adition to helping you tank, lowering your threat....its like 3 consoles in one. you have to get them dude.


tac consoles:: get 2x plasma energy buffing consoles. not worth buffing torpedoes.

new warp core on the exchange will be cheap, mk 11 rare, get one that does [A->W] or shield to weapons.
make sure the other modifier is useful for combat too, lke EFF or EPS instead of COI or TRANS.

do you have any other ships? just wondering. this is a RA ship so its at a little disadvantage to VA ships.
