An idea occurred to me, specifically because I felt guilty not being able to log in much time for this past event, thus unintentionally dragging the score of my squadron down. The idea hinges on my perception that swapping squadmates multiple times does not result in penalties, and goes like this: much like we have a fleet leave thread, we have a squadron leave thread, or something similar. At the same time, we build a system where people can indicate they are available to join a squadron. The squadmate on leave would be removed, and the new member brought in until the end of the event.
The leaving squadmate would be able to do this...perhaps three events every 6 months before being consulted by the squad leader to determine what was best for the squadron as well as the squadmate. What do you guys think? Would also work for types of events (I'm terrible at those shuttle ones, for example)
Re: Timelines Squadron Rotation
That does sound like a viable work-around for the specific problem you mentioned. Not being a player, I defer to the members involved to add comment though.

Yeah Caltern that's why i've been keeping records of everyone's rankings. This way depending upon the event we can reform squads based on performance.

Re: Timelines Squadron Rotation
I do not believe there is a penalty with Squadron rotation, however it would require a fair amount of coordination especially if the movement involves Squadron leaders, which would effectively disband the squadron and recreate new squads. We could perhaps have training squadrons with open enrollment, until members complete a series of events then the officers could agree or compete for new members. We could borrow from the movie Twelve OClock High and have a worst squadron as a form of punishment/improvement. Conversely we could consider having a top squadron. Keep in mind that the only the Squadron Leader can provide crew during crew share events, the value of which, can play an important role in how well the squad members perform.

Re: Timelines Squadron Rotation
A couple weeks back, I bopped around squadrons. All points earned apply in an event only apply to the squadron that you're in when you earn them. I don't think they are removed if you leave the squadron. That last part could be tested. That makes things more flexible.
Squadron rewards are lackluster to say the least. I don't think anyone really needs replicator rations while you can use training chits, ship designs, mountains of components, etc.
Also it occurs to me that there might be a loophole here. If a squadron retains the points of a player who leaves then we could as a Fleet decide to boost one squadron to the top place pretty easily. The goal would be to get the number one spot as a status symbol for our Fleet. We could all agree to join the squadron, get as many points as possible in as short a time as possible, and then leave the squadron and allow others to do the same. I'm only mentioning it as a thought experiment. It might be in poor judgement and considered an exploit. It might also be considered fun.

Re: Timelines Squadron Rotation
I know when I left a squadron as a member mid event I lost all the points earned. My Squadron was automatically folded when I left my last Fleet to join LF. (totally worth it) I see your thought experiment and although I am curious as to how quitting a squadron versus being thrown out mid event impacts the Squad, it's not really something I care to try anytime soon. It has taken me three fleets and too many low performance members to count, in order to get fortunate enough to have the full and active Squadron for the upcoming event. I am not against the idea on a test basis and look forward to checking back to see how it develops.
