Top End Equipment

So after coming back to the game and playing through the very few episodes that were released since I last played ... which disappointed me greatly that they did not add more .... I find myself with very little to do other than doing the daily repeatable quests and such.

Now doing these grants me dilithium which I understand is now the main resource used to purchase the top quality equipment. However, I can not seem to find some kind of guide or listing that tells me where exactly I would purchase this stuff and how much it actually costs. Maybe I'm just not using the interwebs good enough, but has no one created a database site, a la wowhed or torhead, for STO yet? I looked at stowiki, stoacademy, zam ... these sites describe the different types of weapons and such but do not actually tell you where to get them or how much they cost! Am I missing something?

I don't know that you're necessarily missing anything so much as I think the curve for new players or in your case returning players isn't supplemented by enough information from Cryptic or otherwise.

In short, yes, dilithium is the main currency that is used for most of the best equipment in the game. The caveat is that a lot of that is available through the reputation system such as the Omega/MACO gear from the Omega task force repuation  or the newer Dyson Sphere gear through its associated reputation system.  To get to a point where you can get the gear, you have to complete projects in the reputation system which you can find under the reputation tab on your character window.

Another option is Fleet equipment which is available on the Fleet starbase and costs dilithium and fleet credits. Fleet credits are obtained by contributing to fleet holding projects in any manner of ways. The caveat there is the fleet is to have provisions for what you're looking for which we've been replenishing as we can while trying to complete upgrades to our various holdings.

So, in a nutshell that's where most of the best gear in the game is available. Hopefully I've answered your question, I don't really know if there's any type of guide out there, but I tried to provide the most amount of information without making it sound more complicated than it really is.
