The Big G
Posted: Fri Apr 12, 2013 6:57 pmI have been saving and finally pulled the trigger on picking up the Galaxy class. Others might numericly be slightly better but my fondness for TNG made it a must have for me and I've been quite happy.
I set it up on my Engineer and sticking with my other ships name this became the Athos.
The Saucer Separation id figured was just a gimmick like in the show but it really makes the ship play different, in fact it performs on roughly the same level as my Defiant. The main differences is that you lack the ambush cloak and the Big G can turn itself back into a Cruiser when needed (though t is stuck that way for 5 minutes before it can separate again).
In fact I thought in addition to showing off my pretty ship Id show the changes.

You only have 2 weapons consoles so you wont hit quite as hard but for most uses it will be fine and to my mind in a STF where you dont always need to be tanking things it would be really handy to swap in and out of DPS and Tank modes.

In Dark Mirror they describe the Galaxy as almost frowning i can really see it in the first picture of the ship
