Xindi-Aquatic Narcine Dreadnought Carrier

In my chase of all things carrier I managed to pick up the Xindi-Aquatic Narcine Dreadnought Carrier.

http://sto.gamepedia.com/Xindi-Aquatic_ ... ht_Carrier

I initally tried it with an...odd build.

Using the Xindi-Reptillian's Impatient trait (+5% power recharge speed for tactical bridge officer abilities) I loaded u with 3 Tac and 1 sci and 1 eng.  It..well it did ok.  Not stunning and if I got attention I was space dust before I knew what happened more than a few times.

The buff does make the Boff abilities come back a bit faster all the time and they feels incredibly nice.  I think I may get one of them for my Jem'hadar Dreadnaught.

But having so many meant a great sacrifice - giving up the ability to have grav well and more defenses.  So I redid my Boffs and here is what I came up with;

Ship: 'Etlh Naj
Captain: Lilitha Klingon Tac

Lt Com Universal
Polarize Hull 1, Science team 2, Gravity Well
Com Tac
Tactical Team 1, beam Fire at Will 2, BeamFire at Will 3, Attack Patern Omega 2
Ensign Tac
Tactical Team 1
Lt Eng
Engineering Team 1, Emergency Power to Shields 2
Lt Sci
Transfer Shield Strength 1, Hazard Emitters 2

Weapons
4 Disruptor beams (various sorts) in front and 3 behind (3rd will be the cutting turret eventually nach)

Engineering Consoles
Induction Coils, Cascade Resonance, Neut Alloy
Sci
2 Shield Emitters, Leech
Tac Consoles
4 disruptor + damage.

It kinda flies like the Ambassador if it was a carrier, and thats a great thing.  Im thinking of redoing it to cannons and turrets (Beam of course) because its maneuverability is so high.

(Admitedly 8 of 9 in Impulse Thrusters I had a feeling it might need it)

I picked up Momentum and I heartily reccomend it to all captains as a space trait.

sorry if its a bit scatter brained I just wanted to jot this down while my thoughts were fresh.

I'm actually glad you posted this, I'm a fan of the carriers though admit to not being great at actually using them. I bought one of these off the exchange (yes I spent an obscene amount of EC...and am now largely broke) and have it sitting in my account bank until I decide which toon to give it to. Do you think it is better suited to a tactical officer vice science or engineering?

Very few things are best suited to an engineering build in PvE. if you want to have fun on an otherwise full science character, give it to a Sci. otherwise, Tac really is the best option for most ship, unfortunately. properly kitted and as a tac, you could probably pull in the 20s for DPS, maybe 10-12 as a sci, tops. if dps is what you care about...

I was thinking about holding it for an engineering alt I'm leveling...but if it won't play well I'll do something else with it. I spent all that EC on it would be nice to use it lol.

I flit back and forth between alts and the two factions quite a bit so I have a bit of experience in what the different jobs do to the ships.

Tactical - Adds all punch.  If that's your only thought then use that sort of captain the ship has a solid defense if you dont go overboard on tac skills like I tried to the first time I flew it.

Engineering - Adds defenses and a +energy skill every couple of minutes.  It can free up buttons to be used in shooting things and add some punch that way but overall its a trade off of survivability vs damage.

Science - Is mushrooms.

...sorry WoW joke there.

Science adds some survival, and some damage.  I think it does an adequate job of balancing between the two most times.  All of this is for space of course.  Ground is a whole other can of worms.

The variance between Tac and Sci or Engineer can be high but I still would suggest flying a character whos buttons you like the feel of.  Nothing like piloting my Jem'hadar dreadnaught between two tholian nasties and pounding them like craze cause Im an Engineer or the feel of my Flighters, Saucer, Pirate Call and Photon ships swarming some borg on my science officer.

I'll admit to have not looked at it myself but is the loadout and stats similar to the other carriers in the game? I have the Atrox and Obelisk I could use at experiments if they are similar. That way I could play around with my various alts to see where I wanted to dump the Xindi on since it was so expensive.

Flying it is close to a hybrid of the Jem'hadar Dreadnaught and the Ambassador class.

Its far more flexible and maneuverable than the Atrox with a better turn, coming with the ship pets, 4 tac slots, 4 forward weapons, and a universal slot.  Its everything I wish the Artox was.

Quick comparison
Xindi
Turn 9
Inertia 40
Bonus: +10 wep +10 Aux
Shield 1.15
Hull 40500
Crew 1800

Obelesk (Non fleet)
Turn 5
Inertia 20
Bonus +10 Shields, +10 Aux
Shield 1
Hull 43500
Crew 3000

Atrox (non fleet)
Turn 5
Inertia 20
Bonus +5 Shield +10 Aux
Shield 1.2
Hull 40500
Crew 3000

Jem'Hadar Dreeadnaught
Turn 6
Inertia 30
Bonus +10 Weapons +10 aux
Shield 1.15
Hull: 45000
Crew: 3500

as you can see by comparison the turn is insaine.  Ive been thinking of setting it up as a cannon / Gravity well boat like my Ambassador is ... well I was thinking of it then I remembered how much my beams cost me so no time soon :P

I put 8 of 9 into impulse thrusters and get a bit of oversteer now.  If you like Ill post my Klingon's full build.

you're more than welcome to...it will give me a chance to see how I could set it up and asking for input here is easier than googling :)

You might find this amusing I fought with the skill builder for an hour before it dawned on me my character really was illegally built.  She's been around forever and I think somehow it let me put more points where I shouldnt of back in the day.  So new and improved here is;

http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/?build=lilitha_6042

Glancing at the ship you will notice right away Im still working on a number of things.  Nukera rep with its aux bonus is a big thing.

I use the main ship as a debuff/dps platform - why the mix of disruptor types.  Shes disruptor cause shes a Klingon and well..ya know.  I'm a geek that way.

The reworked Impulse Thrusters feels nice at 6.  of course I dont have the Dil Min consol yet os I might be back to oversteering soon :)
