This thread can be used for OOC discussions about events, ideas, questions, etc... regarding the current mission and such.
We also have a Skype group "The Phoenix Crew" which we have also been using for OOC post discussions over the past few weeks.
If you are a member of the Phoenix crew and would like to participate in these ongoing OOC discussions, then list your Skype name here or send it to me in a PM and I'll add you into the discussion group. This also allows for easy one-on-one side discussions as well.
One advantage to the Skype discussion group is that it is a more private discussion in regards to only the crew members see what is going on behind the scenes rather than being open to the public's eye.

I'm thinking that the Thalaron radiation pockets can be scanned via an electromagnetic radiation scanner, as it is in the tertiary EM band with biogenic properties. Thus we can navigate using that coupled with some echo location type "ping" to also detect positions of the debris.
Now, what do we need to accomplish these two simultaneous objectives?

The space sonar can provide the "ping" through the nebula to detect debris directly in front of the ship.
Perhaps the sensors can be adjusted to scan as BLZBUB described... the limitation though will be interference from the nebula beyond range of the sonar.
Maybe a shuttle could assist....
Here's where knowledge and creativity can merge into other unique solutions as well.
Suggestions? (these can be IC as well)

Is Skype like video chat, or is Skype like discussion boards?
The shuttle could be in interesting idea.

Skype can be video or voice chat, but we use it just to have a 4, 5, or 6 way text conversation behind the scenes. Sometimes we are on at the same time and can text-converse back and forth, other times we just come in and respond to what was already posted or add other thoughts, questions, ideas, etc...
This can really be helpful moving forward with the events and challenges within a scene and the overall story itself.
Again... this is all free and very easy to use.

Similar yes. TS allows text and voice chat, as you have seen. Skype allows text and voice as well, with the added option to use video if one desires. Sometime's, in the Fleet meetings, members may not have a microphone and thus use the text chat during the meeting. This is okay as the text is visible along the bottom of the "room" tab.
In the Phoenix usage, we generally text chat, as Jeff mentioned. Either like a PM by tuning in a few times a day, and sometime's live text if we are discussing something pressing, like a joint post in the works, or something similar. Our current "group" in one of our Skype groups is Capt. Syntron, Lt. Decatur, Dr. Nasaro-Myth and Comdr. Rogers. We can all be there and text back and forth. Or just 2 or 3 of us. It really is quite handy.

Stellar anomaly? new enemy? Old adversary? Technical quandrary? New life form? Political conundrum? Strange object in our path or affecting us? Distress call?
Is any plot about to unfold?
We need something to happen, Captain Sir
