Just a quick query toward understanding the needs of Lotus Fleet's future role play, and the ship's there-in.
The Flagship, USS Lotus (Intrepis class) is being replaced with the USS Horizon ... correct?
The USS Artemis is no more; The USS Alsea is very, very heavily damaged and the USS McKenzie and USS Spectre are (mostly) intact.
So, for the next season of role play, should we be considering updating some, most (or all) of our RP ship's to reflect the current technology within the STO universe?
If so, could I submit the Odyssey class Cruiser (<- one of my favorites). LINK
Re: Rebuilding the Fleet - RP ships.
Oh, believe me, there will be changes, and they have been discussed at length. A lot of it will be based on the preference of the captains that will be chosen and further discussion is needed.
I have been trying to keep it a bit secret, though. If you reveal everything at once, not only is that boring, but also it may be incorrect, and I don't want to reveal something that we will have to change later on.

I look forward to the great reveal.

Re: Rebuilding the Fleet - RP ships.
A note here to those like BLZBUB here looking forward to our next RP season.
It must be noted that the LF RP universe is in the same timeframe as STO (early 25th century) but is NOT the STO universe. It is a unique universe of our own where there are major differences, most importantly:
- There is no war between the Federation and the Klingon Empire, as we see in STO, especially after the events of the last Fleet Action, Crusade. Furthermore, the Organian Peace Treaty Zone still exists in the RP universe, while in STO they more or less muddily seem to follow the blatant mistake of ST II and VI about a Klingon Neutral Zone.
- The Romulan Star Empire is not a major threat, especially following the events of the last Fleet Action, Crusade. Furthermore, the Treaty of the Neutral Zone and the Treaty of Algeron are still in full force in LF RP, not rescinded as in STO.
- The Dominion has not risen again. Until stated otherwise by approved RP stories, the conditions of the treaty of Surrender of the Dominion are in full effect.
- There is no more any Borg Collective in the LF RP Universe, following our 1st Fleet Action Borg Invasion.
- The Undine are no more a threat, following the events of the second Fleet Action, Crusade.
- There is no Azimuth Horizon Anomaly in STO or anywhere else, like the one we built in our now concluding Fleet Action Crusade and over a year of ship RP.
- Spock is alive and well in the LF RP universe. Several early stories of our RP showed him back in the prime Universe as of 2408. No explanation given as of now.
- There is no Horizon class in STO as in LF RP, just as their is no Personal Inertia Dampener in STO as we have in LF RP. This is to say that any new tech introduced and used in STO and not already in canon is not necessarily part, or not part of the LF RP universe, or vice versa. So, even with, for example, the appearance of the Klingon Bortas class in our latest Fleet Action Crusade, do not assume that there are automatically Odyssey class ships available or QSD drives for any ship class or Aegis sets or any such things you have in the game. Any and all tech details are looked at on a individual basis before being introduced within our RP, following a defined process.
So, propose anything but assume nothing. Expect all canon stuff to be ipso-facto within our RP universe (canon being defined as to what is in all the series and movies only) but everything else is not until said so by the RP dept.
Therefore... expect the unexpected!

Re: Rebuilding the Fleet - RP ships.
Also remember some of the minor cannon changes that we referenced such as characters that only exist in our RP universe because they are connected to our characters. Characters who share characters ancestors or things like Sorripto being the first Cardassian in Starfleet are also things that only exist because of our RP. That is why our universe is so much better then anything STO has come up with

Re: Rebuilding the Fleet - RP ships.
Good points there, as we have Joey D Sisko as the grandson of capt Sisko, Montgommery Scott III (of obvious ancestry), Snowfire the only Illithyrii in Starfleet, Lyrya as the first Aenar in Starfleet and Kheren as the first and only known successful attempt to fuse the Andorian male genders.
And we also have a few unique species to play with. Along with the Illithyrii, we have Rethians, Kalturians, X'ells and the only well-defined Saurians in the Trek universe (and 100% true to canon still!).
Indeed we do have a good thing going on here

Well.. Redding has something 'special' about him as well, be I've been hesitant to bring it up (although I did hint a lot) because it might be to self serving, but hearing all that.. I might just change my mind. LOL

and Jureth...well he's not that special Other than being Bajoran and having a bias against Cardassians and an intense hatred of the Dominion...

Well, we do follow canon as well, even if it is in our own original way.

Just as a little point; Snowfire isn't actually the only Ilythirii in Starfleet. The Treaty of Kahzet - signed in 2400 - had a cultural transfer segment. Volunteers from Starfleet were offered long-term placements in Ilythirii space so that they could learn about their new friends. There was the diplomatic section, of course, but then there was the offer of sixty or so places in various Ilythirii Academies. In exchange, they asked for twenty places in the Starfleet Academy intake for that year.
Being a matter of interstellar diplomacy between the star nations, the treaty bypassed the usual restrictions on Federation citizenship, patronage, or suchlike generally required to attend Starfleet Academy. Snowfire - through a variety of reasons - was transferred as part of this program. She's the only one out of her people's 'Starfleet group' who's actually really opened to the idea of the Federation. Then again, most of the others were either too old to properly learn or too young to be willing to accept what they were getting taught. Or just flat bored.
The latter mainly because the Ilythirii Academies train you for a decade - except in wartime when the cross-training and certain other subjects are cut rather heavily from the syllabus. Hence why none of the members of Starfleet sent to those academies are finished yet.
Snowfire herself, being a professional student and also beginning to realise that the Council really needs to fix some of the rather glaring holes in its constitution, civil rights, etc. stayed on at the Academy as a postgrad until she was called up to Lotus Fleet in 2409 following the casualties inflicted during the Borg Invasion.
And...that went somewhat further than I had expected to. Oh well.
