William Shatner as writer, director and interviewer takes us on a journey of discovery into the creation of the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation. He speaks to major players, both in front of and behind the camera who were involved with the production of The Next Generation. Traveling in both Canada and the United States, Shatner takes viewers to the back lot of Paramount Studios, a mission control room at NASA, the theatre stage etc... to give insight into the various power struggles that occurred from the inception of TNG... to trying to find its way in its own path through the first few seasons.... Then by the third season TNG is finally given the opportunity to forge its own identity through its vision of the 24th century and the characters and events that shape what transpired.
They also do not shy away from Roddenberry's infallibility either, nor others in the ranks as well. It is rather candid.
To me though I felt that it could have gone longer and deeper into TNG's accomplishments by highlighting additional specific pivotal episodes, and interviewing all of the TNG cast. Regardless, for all Star Trek fans, it is certainly worth watching.
