Yeah, for fun... but on the USS Discovery, it's his job! :O

Three new Starfleet officers have been cast, and none of them sound like they're going to be on board the Discovery. Two of them, an ensign and a doctor, are assigned to the starship Shenzhou. The last is an admiral. Details here: http://www.startrek.com/article/discovery-adds-three-starfleet-officers

Still pretty weird the way they go with this; like they don't have a clue...
Really hope I'm wrong about it.

Re: Star Trek new series (2017 CBS online) update
Rumor has it that production is facing major problems which they hide behind the excuse of "pushing it to the fall to make sure we deliver the best Trek bla bla bla..." but seems that there is a high officer at CBS, Les Moonves, micromanaging it and who has no clue what star trek is (allegedly cannot even tell star trek from star wars apart) and doesn't like sci-fi at all. He would have been the real reason why Brian Fuller left. But Kurtzman of Abramsverse disaster is still there.

That would explain a lot of the weird things and decisions seemingly plaguing this series, from the disgusting ship design to the meaningless crew members, secondary roles filled before the main ones, bizarre mix of prime and kelvin timeline visuals, obscure story setting and mysterious exit of Fuller.
Remember the famous confusing ending of the classic masterpiece 2001 a Space Odyssey? That's what happens when a director and a screenwriter don't get along. Or recall the latest Fantastic Four fiasco? That' what happens when the producers and director disagree and the studio only care about the money they quickly get from the franchise.
Guess we can only cross our fingers, wait and see.

Cross your finger's ... cross your toe's ... cross your eye's too!
Why the heck is "Trans-Dimensional Universe's" even being mentioned within the supposed timeline of this Discovery series (Enterprise > TOS)? So that Sarek can also be a Romulan and a Klingon? Laughable!!!
Rumors of the entire visual effects dept. being fired? Because they're true canon fans and not Abram's-verse fans?
Rumors of Netflix pulling out? They'll want their money back ... and that was what supposedly paid for the entire series production!
I am glad I don't subscribe to Netflix.

Re: Star Trek new series (2017 CBS online) update
Even the toymakers allegedly refused to get involved with the crapship and creatures they are trying to push out, stating them unmakable. They reportedly said all the Nu-trek stuff doesn't sell as well, or at least much less than the classic stuff.
Hopefully, with Nexflix' anger and threat, money (the only argument they listen to) will talk and they will shift back to something better. That might explain thenew, undefined delay and their claim of "lots of post production work"; they will have a lot of post production work to do indeed if they have to entirely redesign their crapship and costumes and sets...
Not to mention the entire muddled, dubious series concept of a period piece based on an obscure event featuring a secondary politically-correct character exploitation centering on a journey of self-discovery.
Does that sound Star Trek to you?

So ... the first trailer for ST:D released. I link this from CBR dot com, because YouTube won't stream the trailer to Canada.
Attn: Klingon's at 1:27 ... "Freeze, and augment". I really do not like the looks of these Klingon's.
