We can start off this discussion from an article from last summer:
10 Things We Want From a New Star Trek TV Show

What would you like to add to or deliberate about these ideas?
Re: What do you want to see in a new Star Trek series?
I want to see a return to what worked. Voyager, DS9 and Next Gen all had just the right mix of different and future with past and memory. That mix combined with some good story and banter (what made Firefly so good) and you have a hit show.
Also I would want the show to be on Syfy or some other network that would give it a chance and support it the way a major network never would in the digital age.

"The first duty of every Starfleet officer is to the truth, whether it's scientific truth or historical truth or personal truth! It is the guiding principle on which Starfleet is based! And if you can't find it within yourself to stand up and tell the truth about what happened, you don't deserve to wear that uniform! " - Captain Picard from TNG Episode 'The First Duty'

Well spoken. What made those shows work so well was just some of the best damn writing in any science fiction show, or TV show for that manner. I hate to sound so cynical, but in my opinion the "golden age" of television, prior to DVR technology, you would schedule your day around that episode because you just did not want to miss it. I been watching those shows on a regular basis, both on Netflix, DVD, and even regular reruns on Syfy, and BBC America. Some of them I either don't remember or have not seen before, but had such fantastic stories. Great television died with the middle seasons of The X-Files, and the short lived Firefly. I been savoring some good science fiction ever since those disappeared. Season 1 of The Terminator was amazing, and then it all went to hell during season 2. Some of the made for Syfy shows are just a bit too campy for my tastes.
Star Trek has a really good chance of coming back. I have heard many stories of a pilot where Warf is the Captain, though I question some of the resources behind that. At one point I heard something about a new Dune movie too, and that got scrapped a few years ago. Time will tell, but in this world of endless C.S.I, and Law & Order spin offs and reruns, I am DYING for something different.
My favorite was Friday nights during 1987. TNG was on around 8pm, on the Fox network, followed by Friday The 13th: The Series, another gem which had absolutely nothing to do with the Jason saga, rather a small band of people scoured the world in search of "cursed goods", to lock them away in a vault away from the world. THAT show has shown some age, but the stories are still great.

I actually saw a quote that the Worf series was mentioned by Michael Dorn himself. I for one would love to see a show based on the Titan. I would take Captain Data on the Enterprise as well.
