Re: No More Trek!
I can't believe that I never saw that commercial before. Thanks!
Sadly though... there still is no new Star Trek on TV... for far too long!
I'm flashing back to the drought I experienced from TOS to TNG!
But at least there was the animated series and the movies to keep me going.
Then we get Jar Jar... Uggg
PLEASE... someone... bring back a new Star Trek series!!!!!

Re: No More Trek!
Very funny Storm!
As for a new series... Oh I'm all for it... but convincing producers that a truly "new" Star trek show (meaning salable) would not be a repeat of the older shows and that this could bring in money is no easy task...
And that gives you Abrams, not real Trek... which is so different than mainstream media (meaning not just exploiting stereotypes but actually bringing up ideas in an entertaining way) that it always looks like an unappealing risk to producers. Remember how hard it had been for Roddenberry to even have his show on the air when it was brand new and unique out there... and there is not all that many Roddenberrys around... but a lot of "space shows" since then.
The only way would be to have another Roddenberry; a creative, financially well backed-up producer that understands and beleives in what Trek is about and dedicated to have it back on the air regardless of being a huge hit or not.
Unfortunately, those who have the creativity and the passion do not have the money and connections; and those with the money and connections do not want to risk it on an old formula they do not understand or really care about.
That is where we stand I think.
