Re: If you need new Character names
Great tools thanks!
Don't be to keen on them faithfully rendering your real name though; I tried with mine and although it gave cool results, it completely missed the mark. For example, the name I got from my own RL name in Bajoran meant Rejoice; but the real meaning of my true name is Man (Greek root of my first name) of the Spring (Celtic root of my last name).
Also, the Vulcan generator ignores the soft canon established structure of Vulcan names (which the Romulan one seems to follow though); all male names should starts with S (i.e. Spock) and female oneswith T (i.e. T'Pol); between each generation, one has the first letter followed by a vowel (i.e.Sarek) and the following generation with a consonant (i.e. hi son Spock).
And what about Tuvok and Saavik will you say? Well, there are names that are used for both males and females in our own languages (In French you have Dominique, Claude etc) or some are reversed from one dialect to the other (i.e. Jean is a female name in Ehglish but a male one in French). Hence why this Guy has a T name and that girl has an S name.
But then there was Valeris... oh well.
All in all, these are nevertheless excellent RP tools. I would recommend that the RP dept officialize them as helping aids to players.
