ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE RP DEPARTMENT: A New Dawn

Greetings Fleetmates!

As per orders of our Fleet Admiral, I am hereby bringing the RP department back online with a special one shot RP event.

We may call it: Lower Decks (no relation whatsoever with the upcoming cartoon or the TNG episode).

Everyone, new and veteran Roleplayers, may join in this special adventure which will feature our own legendary Prometheus class USS Alsea, just about to complete it's repairs and refitting in Starbase Lotus before a first short hop in nearby space for preliminary testing of it's space worthiness.

And, of course, something will happen...

The Alsea offers the unique opportunity of having no less than three players in a command role. This will allow veteran RPers to experience the burden of command by devising their skeleton crew and their own subplot to the central storyline and guiding other players through it. Those other players will have to assume the role of department heads bridge officers as usual. In case of more than two players wishing to also take command (because the RP Director will assume one to lead the central story arc), the RP Director will select the ones proving most apt for the position, based on past experience and a submitted outline of his or her subplot.

And here's the kicker: instead of the usual Lieutenant Junior Grade RP character, all players will create a new character which will be a 4th year Starfleet cadet! (usually around 21 years old for a Human, 31 for an Md)

Having just completed all courses at our own Lotus Fleet Academy, these pre-graduates are ready for their Cadet Cruise aboard the USS Aurora, our own Academy ship. But they are first tasked to assist the repair and refiting crew of the Alsea as a final preparation for their upcoming year in deep space. And as a reward for their good work as much as to teach them to live with the consequences of it, the Academy instructor supervising them will have them aboard the Alsea for it's first space try out. Nothing fancy; just a couple of light years around in our sector for a few days and then back.

Then, events will unfold to propel them in an adventure they will have to face with the best of their abilities and limited ressources.

There is no limit on how many players may join. Wit a three-in-one ship, we have room for 3 commanders, 3 execs, 3 tactical chiefs, 3 chief engineers, 3 chief medical officers, 3 chiefs of science... 3 of everything... at least! All playing together on the same adventure!

Story should last between one to three months depending on posting/participation and story/play following the following schedule:

Feb 07 to Feb 14: players create their character and apply on our RP forum using the appropriate application form
Feb15 to Feb 21: applications are reviewed, including plot synopsis and skeleton crew roster of NPCs from would be commanders
Feb 22: Assignments given for each player-character
Feb 24: The adventure begins!
March 31st: end of this adventure... or may continue until May 31st if need be and players wishing for it.

I know we are all creating new characters, but any chance we dust off an old one for a cameo at some point? I would love to see where some of our characters ended up.

The idea is to have all characters as rookies on their first real space adventure and not having any actual command experience yet. Hence why we make cadets, as standard LFRP characters are at least Lieutenant JG.

Also, the timeline is the current timeline of the RP; meaning at the moment, the Horizon, the Discovery, the Hoshea and the Millennium and their crew are still out there doing their mission (currently on hold). So the option of playing an active character as his/her former self during his/her Academy years is not available.

That being said, if you have an NPC or old character that was a cadet, that would do nicely. 

However, if you want to make a cameo with a character prior to the Alsea's actual departure, in the initial chapters so to speak, or when it returns at the adventure's conclusion, this is feasible.

I think a good hybrid of my unused NPCs is in order. I have just the character for this mission.

I am interested in joining A New Dawn. I started in the Fleet almost three years ago, very active in STT as an officer and somewhat active in STO. This is my first experience in the written RP world, so any suggestions for a Character or position is welcomed.  I just completed the RP 101 and 201 courses and overall have a couple of outstanding 1st year cadet classes remaining.  Since my RP 101 exam still needs to be reviewed, I am unable to access the Character Application area.  

Please let me know how best to proceed.

Thanks for your interest in our RP revival

The RP site seems to have some glitches here and there. It is possible we may have to get back to the ancient formula of posting in the RP section of the forum but we will see. But in your case, it is expected. RP is usually not accessible to non-graduated cadets of the Academy. But in your case, we will make an exception. After all, this IS a cadet adventure


For the moment, to circumvent the application form problem, just copy-paste the one posted by Jeff T on this forum and fill it with your own character concept.

For this special RP session, every player character is a 4th year cadet at Lotus Fleet Academy ready for the Cadet cruise (so if Human about 22-23 years old; +10 years if a Doctor). For this adventure, the cadet will be sent to the USS Alsea for her final refit and preliminary testing. Choose any department and specialty you like. The instructor will later give you a job on board.

Post your application here and we'll see about getting you into the story.

Welcome to RP Lee Resolution!

This will be an interesting adventure.

Choose what you are most interested in having your RP character be involved with: engineering, operations, medical, security, etc...
Create a backstory.

As noted, these will be 4th year cadets so they certainly won't be omnipotent by any means and they will be young.

We'll have OOC (Out of Character) threads to help you as well in case you get stuck or don't know how to proceed.
But since all of these characters are rookies, some of this can be played out directly within the story as it unfolds.
This can add authenticity to the characters and events.

Greetings fleetmates and fleet RPers!

Today is the day we start our 2020 roleplay with a special introductory adventure: A New Dawn.

That being said, we will not be able to play this adventure as we usually do on the RP Forum. One of our players has not graduated yet from the Academy and is therefore unable to register on the RP forum to play.

This adventure in our very own Lotus Fleet Star Trek Universe will feature the talents of Jeff T, Sorripto and Lee Resolution with me as the GM.

As a result, this RP adventure will be done as in days of old, when we started RP gameplay in the Fleet; thought posts and replies on this forum. if anything else, this will bring us back to the glorious days when Lotus Fleet was still but a fleet prepping itself for Star Trek Online; and from these humble beginnings became the great Trek community it is today, 11 years later.

So later today I will start a thread entitled A New Dawn and will be the one where we will post our gameplay to build together this story about cadets on their first (unexpected) deep space adventure.

A word of warning if I may; since we are forced to proceed in this manner instead of the usual insulated  RP forum play,  I would respectfully ask for anyone not involved in the game play to avoid posting on the actual story/play thread. Any comment, please do so on another thread  than the one used for the story. Here on this thread would be the perfect place. Any post not made by the aforementionned RPers for the purpose of playing out the adventure will be summarily deleted to avoid cluttering the story/play.

So from a blast from the past we launch into our new era or LF Star Trek roleplaying.
