One last laugh
So today marks seven years since Storm Windfall's last newsletter after her passing in June of 2015, and she managed to get one more laugh out of me. The post in which it was announced she had passed, her failing health being known for some time, also linked her final newsletter. In it was the usual Q&A, and this time it was me and honestly I had forgotten all about it. One of the questions she asked me was who I would give Star Trek to. I said Seth McFarlane because of his love of the material and his desire to make an old school show in the present. I laughed at how prophetic that became especially having just watched the newest episode of The Orville yesterday. I loved some of the forum exchanges we had, and Storm got me one last time.
"The first duty of every Starfleet officer is to the truth, whether it's scientific truth or historical truth or personal truth! It is the guiding principle on which Starfleet is based! And if you can't find it within yourself to stand up and tell the truth about what happened, you don't deserve to wear that uniform! " - Captain Picard from TNG Episode 'The First Duty'

Re: One last laugh
Storm was awesome!
We had many exchanges and conversations related to the Newsletter which eventually branched off into a variety of topics about our lives. These accelerated as her illness progressed.
I still miss her to this day.

Had good interactions with her myself. She was as beautiful inside as outside, clever, witty, sensitive and courageous. I could sympathise with her easily as, by that time, my sister was terminately ill with bone cancer (she passed away a year after Storm).
It was a privilege to know her and a comfort to know that Lotus Fleet was also there for her as she was for us.
Rest in Peace dear friend.
