Praxiar Items

"I'll just quickly whip up some stuff for Praxiar" I said. Quickly. Anyways... after several hours of work, I've made representations of two important items for Praxiar characters (namely Trea at this point): The Praxiar phaser earring, and one of their two weapons of choice for warfare, the sael-e-ain.

Praxiar Phaser Earring:
Sitting at the helix of the ear, the Praxiar Phaser Earring replicates the sensations of the "Phaser Storms" of Relivar, their home planet. These storms are so constant that the Praxiar developed a dependence on it for rhythm and balance. This relationship is so important to the Praxiar that women who leave Relivar and don't have a means to replicate a Phaser Storm's effects act in a similar fashion to humans who have an impairment in their inner ear vestibular system. The solution that was developed for Starfleet's first Praxiar cadets was to fashion these small phaser earrings, which emit very low level phaser pulses at intervals that mimic the rhythms of Phaser Storms. Only one is necessary for a Praxiar to wear in order to restore balance and function.

Sael-e-ain:
As a culture that venerates the art of war in the same breath as the creation of art, the Praxiar have developed their own weaponry. During a time when the Praxiar circles on Relivar were at war with each other, they developed these weapons to bypass their species' inate ability to resist energy weapons: they went physical. The Sael-e-ain is the more unique-looking of the two main weapons Praxiar use. In essence a collapsible seven foot tall staff, the Sael-e-ain has a unique "S" curve when fully extended. The tips and sides can be pointed, blunted, or capped using a Praxiar alloy that can change shape. The outer curves of the weapon likewise are shaped of this material and can be toggled to form a monofiliment edge intended to cut through Praxiar body armor. Use of a Sael-e-ain is most often in circular motions, using the inner curve to grip and control opponent's movements, or pivoting to slash with the outer curve. Because of the shape of the weapon, thrusts are not often used.

This image also serves as a good visual of Praxiar height vs humans. Riker in this picture is 6'3" (the actor's peak height)
