there is no lens flare on that image. I used supernova from gimp, to provide the star light but there is no lense flare. The light streams tothe sides of it are from sto logo, not me. However for you i have taken the supernova off on a second image

Very good except for the random generic starship. If one is to be featured, it should be of course the flagship... although that, except for the above current banner, there is no existing image for the Lotus class capital ship so there's a problem there.
nevertheless, an excellent proposal to base future work upon.

Perhaps you two could work on creating a usable front view of the Horizon for this and other uses... like the cover of novels and such.
There should be a way to create an acceptable version given that Kheren has a description of the parts which constitute the Horizon.
Just a thought here...

thats the only good copy of that starbase i have, the ship is part of it. i could try covering it up with another ship, but would have to be as good quality as the station

It was my plan to eventually make the Horizon using a modelling program. My current program is Hexagon, but it's not too great. I first need to find one that is free/affordable and doesn't crash upon trying to subdivide to an acceptable level. This is my rendering of the Constitution, but upon trying to define textures for it, Hexagon continually crashed:

i am currently torrenting the program so maybe i can help you, a tip, do not install it in drive c those are protected directories in windows 7 and 8. The program has reported crashing when trying to read or save files in those directories, if you have it isntalled there like in one of the my programs folders. Go to the folder right click on the application file select properties then compatibility tab, and set it to run as administrator, perhaps that will help. . I will do what i can to learn the program as fast as i can, though would perfer some advice or help. If we work together on this project perhaps we can do it over team viewer, that way you can connect to my comptuer and help me better. jsut a thought.
I am also downlaoding the star trek starship creator to see if it will be useful in getting a general design started.

Ok i went back in my image archives (were talking 75gb archives) I found the original starbase with no ship on it. And modified the logo accordingly.
