Mission Overview
What is the general overall plot of the mission. (No spoilers... think of a movie or TV show teaser/trailer).
- Part one of the Slaver Box storyline.
Rear Admiral Kotari has been hearing word of activity in Patriarchy space. In preparation for trouble, Speaker is chosen to captain a new ship, USS Hoshea. Soon, it's revealed that the Kzinti have unearthed an ancient artifact, and the Hoshea boldly pursues a new frontier.

Type of Ship
Indicate what type of ship is best suited for this mission (i.e. Explorer, Cruiser, Dreadnaught, Science, Escort), or "Any", and provide additional details about any special attributes the ship needs to possess.
When doing so, please keep in mind the fleet of ships currently in the RP so that the story may be more easily selected for use.
- This episode is written specifically for the USS Hoshea, but any Explorer or Science vessel could do it with the proper diplomatic facilities. An alternative ending to the story could easily be devised with the participation of a Dreadnaught or Escort.
Mission Objectives

- Primary: Introduce the USS Hoshea and her crew, and bring to the forefront the Federation's diplomatic relationship with the Patriarchy.

Story Acts

Act 1
General information about what is to occur in Act 1.
- Briefing and introduction of Captain Speaker, the USS Hoshea's capabilities, and the unique crew of the Copernicus Refit vessel. Exploration of the spaces within the vessel before an interruption and priority communication from Rear Admiral Kotari cuts the activity short.
(Act is about personal-level exploration and crew cohesion.)
Act 2
General information about what is to occur in Act 2.
- Speaker and the crew of the USS Hoshea rendezvous with the USS Pittsburgh (left under the command of newly minted Captain Bankoli) at the border to Patriarchy space, where the Hoshea's much more advanced sensors immediately detect an anomaly on the edge of Patriarchy space, near a system the Federation has claimed but never colonized.
Several unknown warp signatures arrive at the anomaly's coordinates, then disappear.
Contact with the Patriarchy, who has information on the warp signatures.
(Lots of opportunity in this act for science and diplomacy)
Act 3
General information about what is to occur in Act 3.
- The USS Hoshea arrives at the Anomaly, and interacts with it. This interaction brings the Hoshea into contact with a new species, and their dependents.
(Exploration, Diplomacy, Science, and Medical opportunities - in that order - are developed. Security has some part to play in this act as well.)
Act 4
General information about what is to occur in Act 4.
- Close out the story with the departure of the new species, and revelations about the pirate fleet. Short term ramifications of the anomaly's discovery, the first contact, and Federation-Patriarchy relations are examined.
(Crew cohesion and wrap-up/lead in to Part 2 of the Slaver Box storyline.)
